Acupressure is a practice within Chinese traditional medicine. It is similar in nature to acupuncture, except without the needles! Acupressure uses deep finger pressure on specific points in the body, to clear the blockages in our bodies energy pathways.

Acupressure is used to stimulate the energy systems in your body, restoring the balance of yin, yang and qi and thereby releasing and bringing relief to the areas of your body that are out of balance.

Acupressure can be used for pain relief, to reduce tension in the body, to increase circulation, as preventative health-care, boosting the immune system and enhancing the body’s healing energy. The beliefs in Acupressure are that we have an invisible system of energy channels within the body, known as meridians. These energy channels are directly attributed to parts of the body. When blockages prevent the flow of energy around these points, it can cause discomfort and disease.

Acupressure is usually performed on a soft massage table, with the patient fully-clothed. The practitioner presses on various points on the body in a non-invasive and gentle manner. Sessions are usually run in one hour blocks, with a number of sessions usually required for a complete treatment.

Acupressure massage therapy deals with all aspects of a person considering body, emotions, mind and spirit as one, not as separate parts. The healing touch of acupressure supports a longer, healthier, more vital life.
