Tai Chi is a practice which uses ‘forms’ that are designed to integrate the mind, body and spirit. The slow movements, combined with meditation and deep breathing is one method under the umbrella of Traditional Chinese Medicine which serves to restore the flow of life energy around the body.
Tai Chi uses the idea that movement comes from inside the body and moves its way outwards as we see it. Whilst once a martial art, today Tai Chi is practiced for its therapeutic benefits which include stress reduction and balance.
Individuals can learn Tai Chi from practitioners or from relevant reading and books, it can be practiced barefoot and individuals should wear comfortable clothing.
