Nutritional Medicine, Acupuncture and Homeopathy: Safe, gentle and effective treatments
I retired as a NHS family doctor at Midway Surgery, St Albans, after almost 25 years, on 31st March 2016 but i still work as an independent private doctor.
I offer nutritional medicine, homeopathy and acupuncture as complementary therapies alongside general medical advice which can include ordering diagnostic tests and making specialist referrals. In 1979, I completed my medical training at the Royal London Hospital, and, in 1998, my initial classical homeopathic training when I gained my registration with the Faculty of Homeopathy. I am on the GMC register (2493495), the register of the Faculty of Homeopathy (Specialist Level- 2002), and a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS). I undergo annual appraisals and I was re-licenced in August of 2015 as a medical doctor.
I have developed my skills nutritional medicine and I am half way through my MSc course in this discipline at the University of Surrey. I am very interested in all areas and I now attend , monthly, the Biolab medical unit in London
I worked at the Royal London Hospital for Integrative Medicine over fifteen years in the general medical, children's clinics and the rheumatology / musculoskeletal department. My patients have told me that homeopathic approach has been useful with allergies, atopic disorders such as eczema, asthma and hay fever and those with ADHD / Hyperactive and Learning Disorders. Patients have also told me that homeopathy has been helpful in many gastrointestinal disorders and supports the immune system, which assists the fight against infections. Homeopathy has been of help too, in many emotional problems such as anxiety and depression alongside other psychological support.
I have found Acupuncture to be very effective for migraine, tension headaches and many musculoskeletal disorders including rheumatological conditions. In addtion, it can assist in reducing anxiety and tension and some other autonomic nervous conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome etc. In 2008-9, my NHS practice won awards from The Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health and from the NHS Alliance for the use of acupunture for chronic knee pain due to osteoarthritis. I am registered , with the Hertfordshire PCT, as a 'GP with special interest' in acupuncture.
I have developed my skills nutritional medicine and I am half way through my MSc course in this discipline at the University of Surrey.
I take a general holistic view which includes diet, exercise and emotional well being.
