SERVICES
I integrate body work and focusing in therapy sessions, through focusing on our immediate experience, we tap into the deeper layers of conditioning. By bringing awareness to our experience in a non-judgemental way, we begin to free ourselves and realise that we have more choice over how we feel and how we are.

Psychotherapy with Pinar McGivern

Psychotherapy involves a curiosity about the nature of our experience.
  • How much aliveness can we bring into our every day life?
  • How much of ourselves is allowed?
  • What happens when we are fully present with one another?

Core Process Psychotherapy is a mindfulness-based depth psychotherapy, which works with awareness and presence. It is based on the Buddhist belief that we are inherently free.

Through felt-sense we get in touch with subtle layers of our experience. As we become more aware of our embodied experience, we can work with the emotional and cognitive patterning, we fully experience ourselves, and become more able to deal with blockages and difficulties in our lives.

How does it all work?

The aim of psychotherapy is not to change ourselves but to change how we relate to our experience. My focus in therapy is bringing awareness to the embodied aspect of experience, allowing full expression of our inherent wisdom, in whichever form it takes. I combine mindfulness based CBT and Core Process Psychotherapy, in my approach to working with clients.

You might simply like to explore yourself and reflect on your experience or you might like to tackle a specific issue. Some of these can be:
  • Depression, feeling stuck, isolation
  • Addiction
  • Lack of self esteem
  • Lack of creativity
  • Anger and Rage
  • Abuse
  • Post-natal depression
  • Parental Issues
  • Anxiety and fear
  • Difficulties in childhood
  • Bereavement, loss and grief
  • Separation, loneliness
  • Co-dependency in relationships

About Me

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist in training. Before training in psychotherapy, I did a degree in Film Studies and worked in TV and film.

I first started exploring meditation and mindfulness as a way of coping with my demanding life style. I soon began to appreciate the sense of freedom and simplicity that mindfulness brings. I now practice mindfulness based psychotherapy which, with increasing awareness of the benefits of mindfulness based CBT, is now seen as one of the most effective therapeutic approaches.

I worked as a therapist for MIND and now have private practices in London, at The Awareness Centre (in Clapham), and in Finsbury Park. I also see clients in St Albans.

I offer psychotherapy in both English and Turkish.

QUALIFICATION DETAILS
I am currently working towards the completion of my MA in Core Process Psychotherapy.
