About Me

I trained for 7 years at `the Minster Centre` in West Hampstead. Which is an Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy Training - B.A.C.P. Accredited.

The course gave a thorough grounding in supervised clinical practice, with a strong emphasis on experiential work with reflective and critical input on a wide range of theoretical perpectives.

I chose to focus particularly on Existential, Person Centred and Humanistic (Abraham Maslow) models and my thesis was on `Issues around Death and Dying`.

Since that time I have studied a course in `Eastern Philosophy` for 4 years with a renowned teacher and use the part of that course called `training the mind` to enhance a `deep listening` and `non-judgemental`approach. Often known as mirroring.

More recently I studied with the school of `Insight and Intuition` at St.Matthias in Richmond, for 3 years.(a Ratified School) This is a course for refining the ability to read clients and in particular their `unconscious` comunication.

I find that clients respond well to the `emotionally corrective experience` propounded by Heinz Kohut.
which means that over a period of time the trust which was broken down by failures in early relationships, can be restored by sustained use of warmth and `positive regard`(Carl Rogers).

I also work with regular supervision from a BACP Accredited supervisor who is a trainer in Existential Psychotherapy, which keeps me sharp on theory and practice. Plus I am an affiliated member of the Association of Humanistic Psychology.

Most recently I have been endeavouring to study Cognitive Therapy and Advaita philosophy.

My specialty areas are; working with relationship issues and those who belong to minority groups.
