Pilates
Pilates was design and developed by German Joseph Pilaltes in the 1920's.
He was working with sick children with Asthma, Rickets and Rheumatic fever when he discovered that they can come through their physical liminiations with exercice and regular body bulding.
Later on his technique became a favourite in the dancing community.
Today, millions practice Pilates worldwide.

Modified Pilates
Is design by physiotherapists and used in a rehabilitation setting. The traditional Pilates exercises are broken down and modified to be suitable in orthopedic, neurological, women's health and sport settings.

PILATES is a toning and conditioning exercise programme that concentrates on building a strong and efficient 'centre' of abdominal, spinal and pelvic floor muscles. These could provide continuous support to the uterus. This means they are key to good posture, balance and strength.

Pregnancy and Pilates

Did you know, that only 1 in 4 women get enough exercise while pregnant? Also that most of them stopped going for exercise classes during pregnancy? Some of the latest research shows that during pregnancy the RIGHT form of exercise is very important.

Pilates exercises activate the deepest layer of your tummy muscles, necessary for stabilising your back and pelvis. Many Pilates exercises are performed on your hands and knees, which is an ideal position for pregnancy. Adopting this position can take some of the strain off your back and pelvis, and, towards the end of your pregnancy, may help to get your baby into the right position for birth.

Postnatal Pilates

After you have delivered your baby and you have past the 6 weeks GP check, it is more likely that you are ready to do some gentle exercises.

The Pilates programme is safe and well recommended after birth. However if you have any additional physical condition or discomfort in your pelvic or spine area, please consult with your physician before you start Pilates exercises.

Postnatal Pilates is a great way to lose weight and hopefully help you to fit into your old jeans ;)
