About Us
There are times in our lives when our bodies are challenged through physical and emotional stresses. If your body is in optimum health, you will glide through these challenges without noticing any effects, because it is constantly healing and renewing itself. But if these challenges are too demanding on an already underfunctioning system, the body suffers dis-ease. It is at this time we start to see symptoms.

Let's try to rebalance your body.

Naturopathy is an umbrella term for many natural medicine modalities, generally nutrition, herbal medicine and homeopathy combined. A Naturopath will have had a foundation of medical science and will have at the very least an advanced diploma. They will also be registered with a Recognised Body of Naturopaths.

Naturopaths believe that the digestive system is the source of health and disease and by correcting imbalances here will have a cascading effect on the whole body.

During a naturopathic consultation, they will be able to decide which modalities will assist you to gain better health.

We consider that a rapport between the Practitioner and the patient is extremely important to establish a trusting relationship. We will visit you in the privacy of your own home. The initial consultation will last approximately 1-1hr 30mins. We will be discussing your presenting symptoms, your family medical history, your diet and choose a programme personally suited to your lifestyle and budget. You will be asked whether you would like to try herbal formulas or homeopathy as options.

As this becomes a relationship between you, your health and your practitioner, further consultations may be necessary at four weekly intervals to assess improvements or suggest changes.

We operate in the Telford, Shropshire area so contact us on 07947 810258

Nutrition

Nutrition is essential for living. A balanced diet can work in two ways, either to increase weight or reduce weight. It will also increase your energy levels, giving you the inspiration to exercise.

A varied and balanced diet should provide all the essential vitamins and minerals the body needs.

Proteins are important for all structures of the body such as bones, tissue, hair. muscle and skin. Many proteins can be made in the body itself but there are some that are needed in the diet. These are found in meat and dairy products, fish, beans, nuts and lentils.

Carbohydrates are our major source of energy but it is necessary to know which types we should be eating. These are the complex carbohydrates which are defined as starches and fibre and found in wholegrain bread, brown rice, potatoes, lentils, beans, fruit, vegetables and are slower energy releasing foods.

Fats are essential in our diet for growth and development in children, normal cell function, production of sex hormones and transporting certain vitamins throughout the body. You just need to know the good fats that are unsaturated, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. Seven sources of good fats are olive oil, fish and seafood, nuts, seeds, linseeds and avocados.

Fibre is a vital part of a balanced diet and is found in brown rice, fruit, beans, oats, barley, nuts, seeds and fibrous vegetables such as carrots, celery and cabbage. Increasing fibre in your diet will ensure a healthy digestive function.

Vitamins and Minerals are not generally required as supplements if the diet is balanced as they are acquired from foods. There are particular times when a higher dose may be required such as pregnancy and the elderly but should be only be used as prescribed by a practitioner.

Homeopathy

The "Homeopathy" term originates from a German Physician Samuel Hahnemann who joined the greek word homoios meaning similar and pathos meaning disease. The key principle being that like cures like. He initially made this discovery with Cinchona in cases of malaria but lets explain it in simple terms:

Everyone knows how you react when you peel an onion, your eyes sting and stream and your nose runs a clear liquid. Hahnemann brought forward this theory that if this happens in a healthy person, then what would happen if you gave a small dose of Allium Cepa (red onion) in its potentised form to a sick person with these types of symptoms? He found that this actually ceased the running eyes and nose. It is now used to ease the first signs of a cold and in hay fever.

The remedies are still prepared strictly to his teachings from original substances and potentised over and over again. There have been sceptics about homeopathy over the years as according to experiments, no substance is found in the remedy as it has been diluted so many times. It is believed that the memory of the substance is held in the water/alcohol mixture due to the complex preparation of the remedy.

Because of its small dose, they are generally safe. In acute disease, the relief can be almost immediate. Chronic diseases and symptoms that have been suffered over a long period of time generally may take a lot longer to alter because the body has got used to being in that particular state of dis-ease.

If you have never been well since a difficult time in your life such as a bereavement, a divorce or an accident, homeopathic remedies are very effective in going back in time healing those emotions that were not expressed at that time.

Homeopathy can be particularly effective in children with minor ailments, and in eczema and allergies. It can also help with anxiety, coughs, colds and flus, PMS and menopause.

Before you go to visit a homeopath, be prepared to think about your symptoms. The homeopath will ask you what you might think to be odd questions, such as "describe the type of pain" or " what makes it better or worse?" and will ask questions regarding your diet and lifestyle. This will all build a picture and they will be able to match your picture with a remedy picture.
