Welcome to Yoga Reflection

Yoga Reflection has grown from a sustained interest and practice of Yoga.

Yoga is an interesting discipline. It can bring greater strength and flexibility to the body, breath and the mind, all of which so many of us look for. Regardless of whether someone looks to address the body, breath or mind Yoga appears to have a curious ability to explore all three and, over time, bring them together.

Our Approach

There are many different approaches and styles of Yoga out in the world today. Even Yoga traditions that stem from the same source may have different approaches.

This is no bad thing. People aren't all made the same and choice enables you to come to Yoga in a way that works for you.

In the approach encompassed by Yoga Reflection, postures, breathing and practice are adapted to suit the needs of the individual. You are then able to find your starting point, and from there work to explore your own boundaries and potential.

The approach of Yoga Reflection originated from teachings and training given by T Krishnamacharya (1888 - 1989) to his son TKV Desikachar, and then to Paul Harvey of The UK. It was Paul Harvey and his senior teachers who provided a thorough and comprehensive six year teacher training programme within the UK from there. The organisation was known as Viniyoga Britain and evolved to become the Centre for Yoga Studies - which in turn was responsible for setting up the Association of Yoga Studies.

Individuals

Individual lessons are chosen for many reasons such as:

  • To deepen your practice

  • To work on a specific area for health or fitness

  • To address energy levels

  • Recovery after injury or illness
Individual sessions are offered in the Fair Oak area of Eastleigh.

The first half an hour session is provided free of charge to enable discussion and questions around what you are looking for or hoping to achieve. This includes a basic initial assessment.

Subsequent sessions are charged per hour. The duration and frequency of the sessions are guided by individual needs and circumstances.

The need for continuation of one-to-one sessions is regularly reviewed and agreed upon mutually.

Please contact Helen Baker directly if you require more information.
