SERVICES

Welcome to Wholly Holistic...specialist massage therapies for improving health and mobility.

Massage has been used as a means of healing for as long as records have been kept; in all probability it was used long before then. We instinctively rub sore or aching areas to relieve them, and massage techniques of today have grown up around this concept.

My training in massage has geared me up to be widely skilled in a variety of techniques, which means that I adapt my treatment to your needs, taking account of:
 your level of health and physical fitness
 your build and lifestyle, and
 the reasons for your tension and the events occurring in your life that need to be taken into account.

The massage techniques I use help to ease muscle pain and stiffness resulting from such things as sports activities and over-enthusiastic DIY and gardening. By combining soft tissue release, deep tissue massage and other remedial massage techniques, including myofascial release and trigger point therapy (see below for more about these therapies), I can help to reduce tightness, stiffness, tenderness and soreness, and improve flexibility and mobility.

Treatments Include:
  • Remedial Massage Therapy

  • A therapeutic massage to treat your sore, painful muscles, using remedial massage techniques to treat muscle problems and associated joint problems. Massage also works at a deeper level across the whole body to re-balance, refresh and relax you.

    Massage may help you by:
 providing physical improvements (relaxing tight, sore muscles; improving circulation, nerve function, and joint mobility)
 reducing stress by working on the calming (parasympathetic) nervous system
 calming your emotions by soothing your busy mind and slowing down your thoughts.

When you first come to see me I will take a full case history and then together we will discuss your needs and agree a plan of treatment that will best fulfil your needs. Everything you tell me is in confidence.

You can have your massage in a special seated massage chair if you would prefer. (60 minutes £40; 30 minutes £28)

  • Gentle Touch Reflexology

  • Enjoy the sheer pleasure of Gentle Touch reflexology - a blissful treatment that is beautifully relaxing, yet invigorating.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works on the reflexology points on your feet or hands to aid healing to the whole person, not just your prevailing symptoms. Reflexology may be used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

There is some suggestion that reflexology may aid stress-related conditions, back pain, headaches, fertility issues, sleep disorders, and hormonal imbalances.

Many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress. Some doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy at an individual basis.

During the treatment I apply very gentle pressure to the reflex points on the soles of your feet - on the soles of your feet there is a reflex point for every area of your body, each connected via a subtle energy pathway to the area in the body it represents.

You will find Gentle Touch™ reflexology to be a very relaxing, therapeutic treatment.

When you first come to see me I will take a full case history and then together we will discuss your needs and agree a plan of treatment that will best fulfil your needs. Everything you tell me is in confidence. (60 minutes £40; 30 minutes £28)

  • Indian Head Massage

  • Indian head massage may help by stimulating your circulation and lymphatic system, removing toxins that have built up in your muscles. It is a wonderful way to help you cope with the stresses of your lifestyle and improve your general health.

This form of massage works on your upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, ears and face.  I massage these areas with firm yet gentle, rhythmic movements that involve acupressure points called Marma points.

Indian head massage may prove beneficial by:

    • relieving tension in neck and shoulders
    • relieving eyestrain
    • helping with insomnia
    • easing headaches and migraine
    • improving mental concentration
    • relaxing and toning muscles, including those in the face and neck
    • stimulating the hair and scalp
    • helping the local blood and lymphatic circulation
    • relieving sinusitis
    • reducing stress
    • releasing anxiety

For the treatment you sit in a special seated massage chair, allowing me to massage your upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. You can be fully clothed, or wear an appropriate off-the-shoulder top that leaves the upper back, shoulders and neck free. I use oil on the body (if you are partially dressed as described above) and for the head massage. So yes, you will end up with oily hair - but the oil is very good for your hair, and will wash out easily when you get home! (60 minutes £40; 30 minutes £28)

  • Reiki

  • During the reiki my hands hover over your body, pausing for minutes at a time over each area. It is not easy to describe how reiki feels and affects you - it has to be experienced! People have told me that they feel a calming warmth and gentle tingling. Whatever feelings you have from it, reiki is a wonderful experience every time.

Reiki is Japanese for “universal life force”: it is the energy that creates everything around and within us. Reiki therapy taps into this energy source, clearing your mind, re-balancing your body’s energy and calming your emotions.
It is an invaluable therapy that will help you cope with the ups and downs of your life. Reiki provides a safe space away from the rest of the world, where you can experience peace and calm.
    (45 minutes £35)
