SERVICES

Welcome to The Park Practice

Our Services Include:

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis that dates back almost 150 years.

With its roots in modern medicine osteopathy developed as a drug free system which places great importance on the link between the structures of the body and the way it functions. Osteopathic practice relies on a thorough understanding of anatomy and the workings of the human musculo-skeletal system and the nervous system that co-ordinates it.

What is Acupuncture?

Traditional acupuncture affects the whole person and treats the body, mind and spirit as one treatment being directed to relieving the cause of the person's problems rather than just palliating the symptoms

The vital energy, known as " Chî ", travels in pathways known as meridians, each connected to a vital organ such as the kidneys, liver or heart, etc. By inserting fine needles into points which lie along these meridians, a proper balance and flow of energy can be re-established.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential oils and their therapeutic properties to make one feel good, help ward off illnesses and encourage healing - through various methods such as massage, inhalation and baths.

Essential oils are extracted from various parts of plants and trees. Their therapeutic properties are used to help heal the body and mind, and they can be absorbed through the skin or lungs.

Massage is the most common form of treatment used by Aromatherapists. The combination of both touch and the therapeutic benefits of the oils help to improve circulation and release tense muscles. The oils are diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin.

Counselling Service

The Park Counselling Centre is a modern and exclusive place that aims to offer clients a relaxing and healing environment.

It maintains a professional standard, all practitioners are fully qualified and strictly adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality.

Practitioners each offer a different speciality including: Psycho-sexual therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Trauma therapy, and of course Maxine's own speciality, Asperger syndrome.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is holistic in approach, treating the whole person.

Reflexology is a form of foot massage, working on the energy zones that run throughout the body and the Reflex areas in the feet that correspond to all the organs, glands and body parts.

Reflexology involves massage of reflex points on the foot which are connected through energy channels to all the body parts. Following stress or illness, these channels become blocked, affecting the body's functioning. Reflexology helps to rectify this, relieving tension, pain and toxicity and restoring balance to body and mind.

Barbara Merriman uses soft music, which can induce relaxation, to help restore balance to the mind and body.

Barbara is also a Reiki Master, and brings the energy & sensitivity of this therapy to her Reflexology treatments.

What is Chiropody?

Chiropody involves many different techniques, to treat a wide range of problems with the feet to maintain their good health.

The foot is a highly complex and intricate structure whose care and well being are usually ignored until it is unable to perform the normal functions we expect of it. Anne Mofid, the Park Practice's State Registered Chiropodist, is a highly trained specialist who provides a comprehensive foot health service for conditions affecting the foot and lower limb.

As well as short- and long-term pain relief, the chiropodist is able to provide or prescribe individual appliances and orthotics.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a system of medicine that uses minute amounts of natural substances to stimulate the body to heal itself. Because minute doses are used, side effects are avoided.

Homeopathy can be used for anyone of any age for most physical and emotional complaints, both acute and chronic. It can also help where other forms of medicine find the symptoms too vague to treat but the patient knows something is not right.

Homeopathy can be used as a safe alternative in pregnancy (especially during labour), and for children’s health problems such as ear ache, colic, eczema and asthma. It can be beneficial for cystitis, thrush, hay fever, thyroid disorders, acne, IBS and other digestive disorders, and menopausal symptoms, amongst many other complaints.

Emotional states such as grief, trauma, depression or anxiety respond well to homeopathy. It is effective in glandular fever and M.E., post-operative recovery and support during chemotherapy. Patients wishing to give up tranquillisers or sleeping tablets (with their doctor’s permission) and cigarettes can also be helped greatly.
