I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and offer flexible counselling and psychotherapy in the cathedral city of Chichester in West Sussex.

I also volunteer as a psychotherapeutic counsellor and work as an assessment counsellor for a local counselling charity.

I hold the following qualifications:
  • Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Psychodynamic Skills
  • Training in Assessment of Clients
  • Training in Time Focused Therapy
  • Training in Single Session Counselling
  • Reiki Master / Teacher
  • Shamanic Practitioner (visualisation and energy techniques)
  • BA Hons Business Studies
I am committed to ongoing regular training as part of my continued professional development.

I receive regular supervision and hold full Professional Indemnity Insurance with Balens. I offer a confidential counselling service and abide by the BACP Professional Code of Conduct, Good Practice and Ethical Framework.

I have experience of working with clients across a wide range of issues including:
  • Addiction
  • Anxiety and Stress
  • Attempted suicide
  • Bereavement
  • Childhood issues and experiences
  • Divorce
  • Depression
  • Domestic Abuse & Violence (both psychological and physical abuse)
  • Family, Parenting and Relationship issues
  • Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem
  • Sexuality
  • Trauma
  • Workplace bullying
I offer flexible counselling and psychotherapy in the following formats:

Initial Meeting - Getting To Know You - £25 for a 50 minute session - either one-to-one or via Skype

This session provides the time to discuss what has brought you to counselling, whether I'm the right therapist for you, and what duration of counselling may be suitable.

Single session counselling (one single ‘solution-focused’ session) - £45 per 50 minute session - one-to-one or Skype

Sometimes a fresh perspective or someone to listen is just what you need to move forward. Single Session Counselling allows you to stay focused on a current issue and specific goal for the session.

Short term counselling (6-10 weekly sessions) - £45 per 50 minute session - one-to-one or Skype

Within Time Focused Therapy we explore your current resources and future hopes - helping you to look forward and use your own strengths to achieve your goals.

Open-ended counselling or psychotherapy (open ended weekly or bi-weekly therapy) - £45 per 50 minute session - one-to-one or Skype

Current behaviours and emotions often have their roots in the past. Open Ended Therapy helps to uncover the roots of unhappiness, thus enabling you to make effective, positive and lasting change.

All of these formats of counselling can be held on a one to one basis in a comfortable setting in Chichester or via Skype from the comfort of your own home.

My Integrative and Holistic Approach

The foundation of my training is based on the psychodynamic model (which links past events to current behaviour patterns). I have also studied other therapeutic models, therapies and helpful life practices such as CBT, NLP, Cycle of Change, Reiki, mindfulness, breathwork, visualisation and meditation.

In my view there is no single method that can successfully treat all people in all situations. My approach is therefore both flexible and tailored to suit you as an individual, paying attention to your emotional, physical and social being. In working holistically, I am able to help you achieve the greatest positive change from your counselling experience.

The Therapeutic Relationship

I believe that the most important factor in gaining the greatest positive change from counselling, is the rapport or relationship between therapist and client. The therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity to
  • learn what a trusting relationship feels like
  • try new ways of relating in a safe space
  • be your authentic self without having to impress or please someone
  • share things with someone who is impartial and on your side
As a client you may have your own view of what is important in your therapeutic relationship. You might want to find a therapist who is:
  • empathic, supportive and understanding
  • warm (or the right level of warmth for you)
  • genuine and trustworthy
Similarly, I hope that my client is able to work collaboratively and is committed to our work together.

Initial Session

A one-to-one initial meeting is held prior to any form of counselling.

This is the time for you to decide if I am the right therapist for you.

During this one hour session, we will explore what has led you to seek support. We’ll also look at your current situation, personal history and expectations. This helps to establish the focus and decide upon the duration of therapy (single session, short term or open ended therapy).

You will be able to ask any questions or raise concerns that you may have. This session will enable you to get a feel of what counselling involves and how it may help you.

Practicalities such as cancellations, fees, holidays and confidentiality will also be covered.
