About Megan Everett

My name is Megan Everett, I am a qualified psychotherapist and hypnotist. I consult at 36 Leigh Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex and Harley Street W1 Central London.

Over the last ten years I have worked with both men and women of all ages from various backgrounds and sexualities, covering a range of issues, which include depression (including post-natal depression), relationship issues, loss and bereavement, work related issues, marital problems, difficulties arising from family life (past and present), low self-esteem, lack of confidence, stress and anxiety, sexuality issues and lack of motivation along with being involved with a number of charitable organisations such as Catch22 (young person's mentoring), Samaritans and befriending/counselling at The Caravan based at St James Church, Piccadilly, London.

My Practice

I offer an integrative approach, which means drawing from a varied 'tool bag' of therapy models. These models include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), transactional analysis (TA), psychodynamic, existential and humanistic/person-centered approaches. I also use hypnosis, which means I can offer the type of therapy or combination of therapies, which is most appropriate for the particular needs of each client.

I work face to face on a short and/or long term basis. The length of therapy can be decided together and if needed be reviewed throughout therapy.

My practice is confidential and non-judgemental regardless of gender, sexual orientation, nationality, race or religion.

The first session

Studies show that the relationship with the therapist is the single most important factor for successful therapy. It is important to feel safe and comfortable in order to be able to trust and confide problems. Only then, will benefits be apparent.

Your first session will be different from future visits. The initial visit is where together we, develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, identify how these problems affect your thoughts, behaviours, feelings and daily functioning, identify goals and agree a treatment plan. The first session is also about getting to know each other (establishing a rapport) and a better understanding of where to proceed. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature.

Keep in mind that psychotherapy is a long-term process, so don't expect any instant solutions to your problems the first day. Therapy is about equipping you with life-long solutions rather than a 'quick fix'.

Including the initial session, all sessions last for 60 minutes. Sessions can be arranged for weekly, fortnightly and monthly, however, this will very much depend on your specific needs and will be discussed and agreed at the first session.

Fees

Each 60 minute therapy session, including the initial consultation is £45 at Leigh-on-Sea, Essex location. Currently no session availability at Harley Street, London location. Please contact me for more details.

Cancellation policy

To assist me in running an effective and fair service to all clients, it will be necessary to charge full fee for appointments missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, except in the cases of planned breaks or exceptional circumstances.

Qualifications/Memberships
I am a member of the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCP) and National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), both of which promote the highest standards of training and professional ethics among its members, including the requirement for Professional Indemnity Insurance. Details can also be found on The National Register of Hypnotherapists (UKCHO) and Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), a government recognised register. My work is regularly monitored by a qualified supervisor according to the requirements of NCP and NCH, and my memberships also commit me to an ongoing training programme, which ensures that my knowledge and skills are also up to date.
