Our Vision

Integrating PATIENTS in mind, body and emotions.

We devote our skills and time to assessing a person's needs and to helping them towards optimum health. We emphasise education in life-style changes to aid in recovery and to help people assume responsibility for maintaining their own health. If a patient is having more complex difficulties it may be appropriate to involve a multi-disciplinary approach within the clinic.

Sometimes a condition has gone beyond the reach of any natural healing recovery and then we give clear expectations of what treatment can and cannot do. In such situations we are still able to provide supportive help.

Our Therapies

Why Psychotherapy and Counselling?

You may be feeling generally unhappy, depressed or frustrated and keen to make changes. You may find counselling or psychotherapy helpful for emptiness, hopelessness, bereavement, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, substance or alcohol abuse, eating disorders, past or present difficult or abusive relationships as well as many other situations.

Whatever your reasons for seeking psychotherapy or counselling if you contact us we can arrange to discuss your requirements.

What are the Benefits?

Our clients and others who have attended therapy, have reported positive movements towards their initial goals. We believe that the therapeutic relationship can be healing, enhancing relationships with those around us, as well as being able to feel better within oneself. Our experience has shown us that the rewards can be truly life changing

Who Is Psychologist and what Is Psychotherapy?

Psychologists who specialize in psychotherapy and other forms of psychological treatment are highly trained professionals with expertise in the areas of human behavior, mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment, and behavior change. Psychologists work with patients to change their feelings and attitudes and help them develop healthier, more effective patterns of behavior.

Psychologists apply scientifically validated procedures to help people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Psychotherapy is a collaborative effort between an individual and a psychologist. It provides a supportive environment to talk openly and confidentially about concerns and feelings. Psychologists consider maintaining your confidentiality extremely important and will answer your questions regarding those rare circumstances when confidential information must be shared

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment and can help with many issues including:
  • Anxiety, worries, panic attacks, stress management, trauma
  • Depression
  • Lack of Confidence, low self esteem
  • Addictions
  • Stop smoking
  • Anger
  • Sleeping difficulties - Insomnia, nightmares, night sweats, bed wetting
  • Weight Loss
  • Eating disorders
  • Fears and phobias
  • Irritiable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Relationship/marital difficulties
  • Obsessive compulsive behaviour (OCD)
  • Unwanted habits
  • Skin disorders
  • Blushing
  • Pain control
  • Childbirth
  • Improve sports performance
  • Relaxation
In hypnotherapy we are talking directly to the subconscious mind which is more open to suggestion. Using the tool of hypnosis we will guide you into a relaxed state enabling direct access to your subconscious mind. This is where our instinctive behaviour patterns and natural reactions are formed.

We will be bypassing the conscious mind that can often hinder the speed of success with it's often anxious, critical, analytical thoughts. As the subconscious is much more open to suggestion we can suggest new more positive patterns of behaviour, helping you to change unwanted thought patterns, harmful habits, behaviours and feelings at a subconscious level.

Beneficial results are often achieved faster than other therapies and you can regain the control that has been lost through our reaction to life's difficulties pretty quickly.

What is it? PSYCHOVISUAL THERAPY

Psychovisual Therapy (PsyV) is one of the most powerful mental re-programming systems in use today. Positive response is quick and, used properly, the system is safe with no side-effects. Since it deals with the cause of the problem, rather than its symptoms, its effectiveness is marked even among those who have already attempted other techniques.

How does it work?

We are all affected by color and shape. Certain shapes and colors will relax, stimulate and create either balance or unease.

Balanced, full-spectrum visual induction patterns, encoded with specific subliminal suggestions, present new programming, below the conscious threshold of perception, directly to the sub-conscious mind.

Psychovisual Therapy provides a relaxing, totally enjoyable experience. While observing fascinating sculptures of gently moving light patterns, transmitted by video, encoded messages within these patterns are instructing the sub-conscious mind and transforming vulnerable attitudes into stress-proof ones.

Psychovisual Therapy employs the brain's own natural processes which are there for one's own benefit and use. The soothing voice of the video creator on most of the videos brings you essential information about how the mind works, how you can change negative messages in your subconscious and what vital facts you need to know about the specific topic.

Psychosexual Therapy

What is Sexual and Relationship Therapy?

Sexual and Relationship therapy is also known as Psychosexual Therapy, or Psychosexual Psychotherapy.

In 1957 Masters & Johnson began pioneering the field of human sexuality in the USA. The psychiatrist Dr. Elizabeth Stanley trained with Masters & Johnson, bringing their approach to St. George's Hospital, London, in the UK. There the Elizabeth Stanley unit was formed to develop the treatment of human sexual dysfunctions further as well as to train new therapists. Dr. Stanley's work pioneered development on therapy for the personal and emotional communication between couples which is a key aspect of sexual satisfaction.

Subsequently, this unit at St. George's Hospital was headed by Dr. John Kellet, a specialist in sexuality and ageing and later by Professor Alan Riley who is a specialist in the pharmacological (physical body chemistry) aspects of human sexuality. Today much more is known and being discovered about how drugs such as Viagra can enhance sexual functioning. At the same time certain drugs, taken for medical conditions, can inhibit sexual functioning. Today the pharmacological study of human sexuality is continuing with new generations of drugs being developed.

Pamela Moncur uses the techniques taught by St. George's Hospital Medical School which incorporate the work of Masters & Johnson, Dr. Stanley, Dr. Kellet and Professor Riley.

How does it work?

With on-line counselling you can communicate with me as and when it is convenient to you. This can either be done by a series of e-mails or with real-time online written communication. You can also communicate with me by voice - by talking to me through your computer by webcam. (If your computer has this facility). This allows us to communicate face-to-face via the Internet. At present the technology for this is limited, but it may help you to see me as we talk and, if you want, I could see you, too. The telephone lines do not always allow this, so sometimes we may have to revert to written cyberchat.

Who is psychosexual therapy for?

Sexual problems may be longstanding, or related to more recent events which have caused stress, confusion or unhappiness. Whichever is the case, our psychosexual therapists are trained to work with people to help resolve their sexual difficulties. Some of the issues we aim to help include:

  • General breakdown in a couples sexual relationship
  • Loss of sexual desire
  • Painful intercourse
  • Difficulties with orgasm
  • Arousal disorders
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Premature or delayed ejaculation

    Who will we see?

All clients are seen by fully qualified psychodynamic relationship therapists who have engaged in further specialist training in psychosexual therapy.

    How do we work?

Psychosexual therapy treats the causes as well as the symptoms. In weekly sessions you will have the opportunity to explore why a problem may have arisen. Where appropriate your psychosexual therapist may offer a specific treatment programme to help you overcome the difficulties you are having. Once you have a regular appointment you will be seen each week at the same time by the same therapist for as long as needed.

    What are the fees?

You will be charged according to your income on a sliding scale. The service is unique as there is no minimum fee and we aim to see everyone whatever their financial circumstances. Your fees will be negotiated at your first appointment.

    How do we apply?

Clients may contact us directly on 01172302831 or email thecwhc@gmail.com or be referred by their doctor or other professional. The counselling administrator will arrange for an initial appointment with a counsellor to assess your needs or register for an appointment.
