Human Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a therapeutic system of medicine that is based on the hypothesis of like cures like, which means that a substance that can cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can cure similar symptoms in an unhealthy person.

‘Originally qualifying and practicing as a pharmacist, I became interested in homeopathy after five years of working among a strong local and rural community where I had began to observe at close hand how many patients were being prescribed drugs for conditions for which they had few or no symptoms.

Most patients are coming to me now either because they have failed to find a solution to their problems with conventional medicine or they've previously had a positive experience with homeopathy and have chosen to come back for treatment, often for another condition.'

People may feel frightened that they have to make a choice between conventional medicine and 'alternative' medicine, but homeopathy is often complementary to conventional medicine. Being a pharmacist enables Sue to understand what drugs are doing to the patient which saves time during the consultation. Sometimes people aren't sure whether homeopathy is right for them, but a simple, short telephone consultation may help patients decide. As homeopathy is both safe and gentle it can be used throughout life, from birth to death - age is not a discriminating factor.

'Continuous professional development is an important part of homeopathy; I am supervised on a monthly basis by a colleague and take advantage of a peer support group for myself and my case work. In turn, I support students as part of the supervision for the Society of Homeopaths, enabling them to sit in with me at my practice as I consider this an essential part of the clinical component necessary to becoming an effective homeopath.'

Sue Miles is experienced in The Bombay Method or The Sensation method which is a a further evolution of her practice as a classical homeopath. Animal Homeopathy

The principle of like cures like translates just as much to animals as it does to humans. Trained in Agricultural and Veterinary Pharmacy as well as human pharmacy, Sue Miles has particular expertise in animal homeopathy. She also runs a course for horse owners and has helped many of her patients to use homeopathy to treat their family pets successfully.

Whilst researching her project on zoonoses (diseases transferred between humans and animals) Sue witnessed first hand the positive results achieved with homoeopathy in animals and became convinced that it was more than placebo. She began to study the subject in 1987 and for 10 years practiced homeopathy 'over the counter' from her pharmacy, which served a large rural community in north east Leicestershire.

In 2001 she joined the team of vets and homeopaths to set up the now award winning 'Homeopathy at Wellie Level' course which teaches farmers how to use homeopathy responsibly and successfully to treat their farm animals. She also runs the Homeopathy for Horses course to help horse owners treat their horses.
Conditions for which people often seek help for their animals are skin problems, digestive problems, allergies and arthritic conditions.

Homeopathy for Horses

Sue Miles has developed a course specifically tailored for those who work closely with horses and would like to find out more about treating their ailments homeopathically.

Safe, gentle and most effective when applied to the individual animal – in response to their symptoms and behaviour, homeopathy has been used successfully by many famous horse owners and trainers for years.

The Homeopathy for Horses course is run over three months, one day per month, with practical exercises in between. It covers the routine use of first aid remedies, it teaches how in the treatment of acute situations you can help your animal, often alongside other measures your vet may use and you learn about more chronic and behavioural conditions and how to treat them.
