Welcome to SpinalsolutionsI have worked in the Birmingham area for the last 9 years offering osteopathic treatment, working on techniques that have gentle application. During that time time I have worked with practices and practitioners who are comitted to providing a service which is up to date and client focused.
I currently work at practices that offer a range of other services as well as osteopathy and are located around Birmingham and Solihull. Additionally I work at Freshwinds Charitable trust, this is a charity providing integrated health care and advice for clients (adults and children) suffering with chronic disease. At these locations I am able to interact with other osteopaths and practitioners and thus offer a wide range of treatment types and advice.
During these 9 years I have developed interests in the following areas: - Myalgic Encephalitis - (The Perrin Method)
- Cranial Osteopathy - Children and Adults
- Ergnomics - advice for work related injuries such as RSI
- Martial Arts injuries
- Self Help methods
Through clinical contact with patients and additional courses I have defined my practice as focused on self help through my further interests in NLP and Life Coaching I endeavour to act as a facilitator for the client, thus allowing them to access their own resources of self healing. This always remains a basic philosophy of complimentaary medicine.
Osteopathy
Andrew Taylor Still the founder of Osteopathy, was a physician at the time of the American Civil War,he proposed that dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system may reflect physiological changes in the body. Physical treatment was able to 'tone up' or calm down physiology . Additionally manipulating carefully and artfully around strained back joints decreased pain and renewed function.
As a science some of the older methods adopted by the profession are subjective by todays standards, however osteopaths have developed an art in the manipulation of joints which is comfortable and effective. All treatment administered by the modern osteopath aims to be evidence based as much as possible with a hint of the old methods through the art, however consent is sought at all times before proceeding with treatment
Recent research has led to recommendations for manipulation for the treatment of low back pain in addition to exercise therapy and acupuncture. Manipulations carried out by the Osteopath are designed to be applied in a variety of ways and situations. This allows for treatment across the age and ability / disability spectrum.
Dance Injuries
Dance has found an appropriate and harmonious partner with osteopathy Osteopathy has held a model of the human body which is both artistic and scientific, indeed early osteopathy was much like a forerunner to modern biomechanics observing dynamic movment as working in connected 'chains', and static posture as requiring a phyiscal connection very much like the physics of 'bridge' support.
Osteopathic manipulation is a very effective treatment for the strains of dance training and performance. The pressures on dancers are based on repeated 'perfect' performances this kind of pressure leads to peripheral limb injuries and deep muscular strains.
Dance includes ballet, contemporary and performers and enthusiasts are represented both professionally and as amateurs. All need treatment which rebuilds a stronger better functioning structure.

Locations - Transport
All locations are easily reached by train and bus. In addition our city centre practice is easily reached on foot from New Street Station.
Parking
