SERVICES

Welcome to South London Reflexology

Sophie is originally from Switzerland and through her background in circus performance, her travels and her practice, she has experienced and seen the benefits of complementary therapies and reflexology. She speaks both French and English fluently.

She offers reflexology, a holistic therapy which promotes well-being and relaxation through pressure on the reflex points of the feet and/or the hands. It works on the basis that the reflex areas on the feet/hands are linked to specific areas or organs of the body.Reflexology can also help improve circulation, provide efficient pain relief, assist pre and post operative care, support the immune system, clear toxins and waste products as well as restoring and maintaining the body's natural equilibrium. The principles of a complementary therapy are to help heal the cause and not just the symptoms. Thus this gentle and non-invasive therapy stimulates the body's own healing mechanisms and encourages the body to work naturally and restore harmony, balance and good health.

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for conditions such as (non-exhaustive list):

  • Back/shoulder/neck pain

  • Migraine/headaches

  • Arthritis

  • Infertility

  • Digestive disorders

  • Sport injuries

  • Sleep disorders

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Stress-related conditions
Maternity Reflexology includes the preconception, pregnancy and post-natal period.

Through relaxation and rebalancing, reflexology has been show to be effective to improve chances of conception. It can help rebalance hormonal irregularities and relieve the stress that often accompanies infertility issues. Stress induces physical changes in the body that can alter the release of hormones. Some of the following conditions that may benefit from reflexology: Endometriosis, polycystic ovaries syndrome, low sperm count, blocked fallopian tubes, ovulation problems, stress-related infertility. Reflexology may help improve fertility by working on balancing the endocrinal system, reducing stress, supporting the immune system and help detoxifying the body. Reflexology can also be of great support for couples undergoing IVF or any other course of assisted reproduction treatments.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time in a woman's life where the body will undergo significant changes on an emotional, hormonal and physical basis. During this precious time, reflexology can help ease aches, pains and side- effects due to the pregnancy. It has also been found effective to help towards a natural and shorter labour and provide efficient drug free pain relief. Conditions such as morning sickness, backache, constipation, tiredness, heartburn, bloating and fluid retention may all benefit from reflexology treatments. Reflexology treatments can start from 12 weeks of pregnancy. A course of treatments is recommended for maximum benefit. Frequency and number of treatments will be discussed and tailored to suit your personal needs.

Post- natal care

Reflexology will assist post- natal recovery in rebalancing the body and its hormones and give a well - deserved relaxation time for new mums and reduce the chances of post-natal depression.

Reflexology doesn't claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.

Indian Head Massage is a rejuvenating and relaxing therapy, which involves massaging pressure points on the upper back, neck, shoulders, head, scalp and face.

It is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system, which combines natural therapies to heal the mind, body and spirit, restoring balance and harmony and its practice is over 5,000 years old.

Indian Head massage may relieve stress, tension and pain by helping stimulate the blood flow through diverse massage movements, including the traditional Champissage.

It may be effective in a range of conditions such as:
  • headaches

  • facial palsy

  • sinusitis

  • tinnitus

  • bruxism (teeth grinding and jaw pain)

  • migraine

  • frozen shoulder

  • facial hypertension

  • neck & upper back pain

  • carpal tunnel syndrome due to referred pain
Indian Head massage's additional beneficial effects help:
  • increase vitality

  • promote deep relaxation

  • improve and tone the skin

  • stimulate hair growth

  • mental fatigue
The western Indian Head massage is a "dry" treatment and does not include the use of oils, however, treatments can be performed with the use of oils if wanted.

Indian Head massage can also be combined with hand/foot reflexology for a full and relaxing treatment.

Please note that if you have had a recent he ad or neck injury, you will need to consult with your doctor before having a treatment.
