My name is Sarah Jane Cawthray and I am a Classical Homoeopath who studied at the world-renowned Allen College of Homoeopathy in Chelmsford. My practice is in North End, a mile from Felsted in Essex and convenient for patients coming from the surrounding towns of Dunmow, Braintree, Thaxted, Bishop’s Stortford and Chelmsford.

What is Homoeopathy?

The principle of treating like with like was first mentioned by the ancient Greeks and Hippocrates, but it was Dr. Samuel Hahnemann who rediscovered this system of treatment in the late 18th century. Distressed by the crude methods of the medical profession of his day he diligently sought a gentler and more effective alternative. In the face of fierce opposition from fellow doctors and personal hardship, he developed the art and science of homoeopathy. The principles that he laid down two hundred years ago have been clinically proven and are as relevant today as they were then.

Homoeopathy treats each person as an individual with treatments selected on the basis of the individual's symptoms. For example, two people may each suffer from migraines but their symptoms will differ, as will factors that make the headaches worse or better. It is these differences that determine which remedy each person will receive.

Homoeopathy treats holistically, going to the root cause of an individual's symptoms and encouraging the body to heal itself. It strengthens the constitution and immune system, treating the whole person on both a physical and emotional level, as well as giving long term relief to their symptoms.

Homoeopathy is
  • Safe
  • Natural
  • Effective
  • Free from side effects
  • Not addictive

It is suitable for people of all ages, from the very young to old age. Children respond very well to the gentle cure of homoeopathy. It may also be used during pregnancy, when it benefits both the mother and her unborn child, and during labour, when it can help to ease childbirth.
