I have enjoyed very much this past year of giving Shiatsu and I am very excited about 2014.

Some highlights for me:
  • Working with mothers and their new babies, helping with sleep problems and digestive issues.
  • Gently treating the very infirm and working with terminally ill patients.
  • Offering guidance and support post-operatively with all the symptoms that occur at this time.
  • Caring for individuals after serious illness and supporting them through recovery and back to full health.
  • Supporting people with all of their health and especially areas where their GP's are not supporting them.
  • Regularly giving Shiatsu to a patient with a spinal Cord Injury and enjoying how they benefit from the sessions.
  • Encouraging fertility, where appropriate!
  • ...and treating other practitioners is always a delight. I currently treat a colonic hydro therapist, a cranio-sacral therapist and several Shiatsu therapists.

And some of what I'm looking forward to in 2014 ...
  • Continuing to nurture and nourish, loosen and enliven the clients who come to me.
  • Enjoying the sense of energy coursing through me as I work.
  • Staying connected with the wider shiatsu community, including the Shiatsu College in Norwich where I trained and where I am a teaching assistant.
  • Spending more time with my shiatsu colleagues, giving and receiving treatments and discussing techniques and approaches.
  • Continuing to develop myself through my daily meditation practice, Qi gong, eating mindfully and continuing my acupuncture treatments to reduce the migraines I have.
  • Discovering new techniques to help clients with areas of difficulty.
  • Enjoying the results of Shiatsu, seeing the changes that occur during one session and also the developments that occur over longer periods of time.

Shiatsu

"Shiatsu is a system of healing and health maintenance closely related to acupuncture .. the main difference is that we use deep comfortable pressure techniques (through clothing you don't need to undress) instead of needles ... "

Shiatsu treatment includes diagnosis and the appropriate application of a range of techniques including gentle stretches for opening joints, deep massage techniques and the use of acupressure to bring about relief from all kinds of symptoms, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.

Abigail Lee has graduated from The Shiatsu College (Norwich branch) and has now received her MRSS. You can find her on the Shiatsu Society web pages at www.shiatsusociety.org.uk
Abigail is also a Teaching Assistant at the Shiatsu College.

I work at The Harmony Centre, Walpole Nr Halesworth IP19-9BB.

I also work in the Treatment Room, High House, Hoxne Nr Diss, IP21-5AT.

Meditation Classes
at the Harmony Centre

My Tuesday lunchtime classes tend to include a period of Mindfulness of Breathing and of the Metta Bhavana.
My Saturday sessions will also include a fully led Bodyscan meditation and maybe walking-meditation practice as well.

MINDFULNESS of breathing is a beautifully simple practice, done in a series of fully-led stages, that will engage your mind on the breath and allow the 'mind chatter' to settle. This practice can be done in any posture.

METTA BHAVANA ('bhavana' means 'developing' and 'metta' means 'loving kindness') is a profound meditation practice. The Metta Bhavana focuses more on our heart and expanding and developing our ability for unconditional love towards all beings.

BODYSCAN which is a form of meditation usually done in a lying position and therefore allows the body to rest fully. Therefore it is especially useful when we are tired or unwell. This meditation practice is wonderful for really deeply inhabiting yourself and being present in the moment. This technique involves mindfully focussing on the breath, its movements in the body and focussing on all the different parts of the body. It's very useful for grounding and calming.

WALKING MEDITATION is a practice that is especially grounding and useful for slowing us down and reminding us of nature and what it is like not to be rushing around!

About Abigail

I first started meditating regularly as part of my yoga practice which began when I was 18 years old (1989). It felt like useful 'still' time then. My meditation practice is ever changing and three years ago I discovered the FWBO (friends of the western Buddhist order).

My meditation practice has much deepened and widened since those early days and it is an integral part of my life. Meditation has become like a gateway for me into the truth of myself. With a daily meditation practice, changes in myself have occurred quite rapidly at times and the positive changes are staying with me and giving me more tools for life.

Contact me today for a chat with any further questions or comments
and especially if you are a newcomer, so I may welcome you and find out a little of your experience of meditation.
