Our Therapies Include

Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is an ancient and invigorating technique and is a very popular treatment. Following a consultation, you will be discreetly draped in towels on a massage table, and massaged with lotions and oils. Your body's soft tissues will be manipulated using gliding, kneading, pressing, rolling and tapping techniques. Benefits include; deep relaxation, easing of muscle tension and pain, detoxifying the body of waste products, preventing and treating sports injuries.

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a form of complementary therapy designed to treat the whole person and not just the symptom or disease by assisting the body's natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself. Essential oils consist of tiny aromatic molecules that are readily absorbed via the skin, and whilst breathing they enter the lungs. These oils enter the bloodstream and are carried around the body where they can deliver their beneficial healing powers. Because they are highly concentrated, only a small quantity of essential oil is required to bring about results. After a consultation I can blend a unique combination of oils to fit your individual needs.

Reflexology
A soothing and relaxing therapy for all sorts of ailments (emotional and physical) it can work out where your problems lie and free up the energy blockages that are causing them. Reflexology involves massaging specific points of the feet and or hands, enabling the body to heal itself. Illness, stress or injury leaves your body in a state of imbalance and it's built in healing energy gets blocked, preventing it from functioning effectively. Reflexology is used to release the healing energy and thus restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium.

Deep Tissue*
Deep tissue massage works on the soft tissue and is able to release deep lying tensions and relieve aches and pains resulting from stress, bad posture, repetitive strain, and many other modern day complaints. using the healing powers of essential and base oils combined with massage and stretching, this treatment will leave you feeling revived, refreshed and with renewed awareness of your body.

Trigger Points*
Trigger points are small, localized muscle cramps with a variety of causes, most notably excessive loads, direct trauma, or repetitive or prolonged muscle contractions. The cramp does not normally affect the whole muscle but is usually confined to one or two small muscle fibres within the main body of the muscle. You can actually feel the cramp as a hard lump or knot in your muscle. Sometimes, especially in small muscles, the whole muscle will feel like a cable made from hard rubber.

Trigger points differ from other causes of pain in that they often produce pain in other sites in the body. This is called referred pain, and it can be a very annoying and perplexing problem. For instance, you may have pain in your elbow that is caused by a trigger point in your shoulder.

* Both of these techniques can be incorporated into a Swedish or Aromatherapy Massage.

Acupressure Chair Massage
Seated acupressure massage was developed from a traditional Chinese technique. The massage is practiced sitting in a chair, fully clothed. This sequence involves accupressure on the back, shoulders, neck, scalp, arms and hands, stimulating the muscular, nervous, lymphatic, immune and and circulatory systems. The treatment leaves you very relaxed, yet energised and clearly focused. It can work as deeply or lightly as required by the recipient. This treatment is ideal for upper body/ computer/ desk related tension and will help free the tension from their bodies and leave their minds energised and inspired. Particularly beneficial for stress, neck, shoulder and backache, desk related tension, eyestrain, RSI, headaches, IBS, insomnia and depression.

About Me

VTCT Qualified Holistic Therapist
My background has mainly been within the public sector in a supportive capacity. Helping teenagers and adults into sustainable work, teaching life skills and providing support for Students in Colleges. I wanted to take a step further in terms of being able to help and support people, so tackled Psychotherapy training aswell as Holistic Therapy, as I wanted to be able to treat the body and mind as a whole.

I am happy to say I have been a qualified therapist for a year and have enjoyed every moment of trying to build a sustainable business. After 2 years of Psychotherapy training I have put it on hold to focus solely on the massage. I am sure its something I will pick up again. I am very intrigued in combining Psychotherapy with Buddhism, so watch this space...

I have travelled extensively and have lived in many places, including Japan, China, Canada and New Zealand. My favourite will always be Japan. Never have I known a culture so engrained with love and respect for each other. A recent string to my bow is also to be involved in extra work for tv shows. I have been an extra for a new drama called 'The Case,' a student comedy called 'Fresh Meat,' as well as recent appearances in Coronation St and Hollyoaks. I have to say it's alot of fun and a welcome relief from the day to day stresses of life.
