What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a very relaxing, non invasive and natural holistic therapy. It is based on the principle that there are reflexes on the feet and hands that correspond to all the parts of the body.

By applying various pressure techniques to these points the body’s natural balance can be restored and the body's own healing efforts encouraged. This can be helpful for many medical conditions or for maintaining your good health.

I hope that you will choose to experience reflexology with me and see how it can enhance your life and general well being. My reflexology clinic will provide you with calming, comfortable and peaceful surroundings. You will receive all the care and attention I feel is so important to deal with the stresses and strains of daily life.

Why Use Reflexology?

Reflexology is particularly useful for the following conditions:
  • Stress and stress related conditions
  • Insomnia/Fatigue
  • Tension headaches/Migraine
  • Back Pain
  • Digestive disorders
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome/Constipation
  • Arthritis
  • Infertility
  • Muscle tension
  • Hormonal imbalances/Premenstrual syndrome

Some clients are unwell and use reflexology alongside their medical treatments to enhance their quality of life. Others are well and choose reflexology to maintain their health and sense of well being.

Treatments

You remain fully clothed and are only required to remove your shoes and socks. The first treatment will begin with a consultation about your health and lifestyle, followed by the treatment. This will last about an hour.

During the session various pressure techniques will be used to identify and re-balance areas of tenderness or tension in your feet. These will be discussed with you and a treatment plan developed.

Treatment Reactions

The effects of reflexology are unique to each person. Many clients find the treatment deeply relaxing and feel sleepy during and after the treatment. Some clients experience feeling invigorated and full of renewed energy. Occasionally clients report feeling lethargic, having a headache or have a slight worsening of their symptoms immediately after treatment. This will pass and is a good sign that the healing process has begun.

It is really important to drink water after the treatments and rest as long as you need to.
