About Julia
Julia really enjoyed ballet and dancing when she was younger, not realising that many of the conditioning exercises were actually derived from Pilates. As she got older, she changed her exercise regime to Aerobics and Body Conditioning classes and eventually trained to teach Exercise to Music (Aerobics).

Alongside Exercise to Music, Julia developed an interest in remedial work and took a Diploma in Exercise for Special Populations. At the same time she started attending Pilates classes and could see the benefits of Pilates, in particular for those needing rehabilitation, so she trained to teach Pilates. Julia qualified in Matwork Pilates in 2004 and Reformer Pilates in 2008. Teaching Pilates is not just one qualification but is a lifetime learning process. Julia continues her professional development on a regular basis.

Initially Julia was teaching evenings and weekends, alongside her full time job as a project manager but in 2008, she decided to resign from her 9 to 5 job to pursue her passion teaching Pilates full time. She has no regrets!

Stott Reformer SPX Max

Julia teaches one-to-one sessions on the Stott Reformer SPX Max. This equipment consists of a Reformer and a Tower system. The Tower allows Julia to teach the majority of Cadillac exercises and, when combined with the Reformer, offers many exciting new exercises. Originally invented by Joseph Pilates it has been updated for the 21st century.

At its most basic, the system can be used to provide either support or resistance. Where it provides support, it enables us to achieve exercises safely that would otherwise be too challenging. When we use the system to provide resistance, we can increase the difficulty of the exercises appropriately for everyone from people new to exercise to the most elite athletes.

The system uses springs to provide the resistance or support. These are selected according to the individual resulting in a personalised workout. We work in a 'closed chain' environment where either the arms or legs are supported. This means that muscle imbalances and poor biomechanics can become apparent and proprioception can be heightened

One-to-one sessions can be arranged at a mutually convenient time. The cost for one hour is £45
