Massage

Holistic Massage treats the individual as a whole and aims to improve physical, mental and emotional well being through touch. Holistic massage looks to correct imbalances in the body that have built up over a period of time by understanding and treating the body’s structure and function.

Remedial Massage is one of the most effective ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness.

Remedial massage is based on the fact that soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) respond to touch. Treatment employs massage techniques designed to treat both deep and superficia tissues. The massage therapist uses skilled manipulation combined with in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology to bring about pain relief, correcting and normalising the body’s muscles and soft tissues.

Naturopathic Nutrition

Food Glorious Food; I am very passionate about good food and great tastes; I adore cooking, preparing and growing food and believe that food is the key to health. If you eat a balanced and varied diet with moderation in mind then you are several steps ahead to achieving better health. It is a simple and accessible, affordable assurance to keeping well and healing quicker. Eat the right foods for helping emotional problems, physical ailments and for the happiness of the soul.

‘Let food be your medicine’ Hippocrates circa 431BC

Hippocrates the forefather of medicine knew that certain plants and foods helped prevent disease and had healing properties. Food can seem like a complex subject but it needn’t be; all that needs is an understanding of the basic principles of a balanced, whole food and varied diet and what results is feeling better and better health.

Food nourishes our brain and nerves, food strengthens our muscles and bones it provides the building blocks for growth and repair. Nutrition plays an important role in virtually every medical condition.

Working with a naturopath can help you with ideas and inspiration towards food, you can become educated as well as motivated to make healthy choices and improvements to your diet. The obvious benefits will be that you are directed towards better health and vitality.

Addressing any existing nutritional imbalances and adopting a healthy diet are of great importance. Nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids etc) and non nutrient products (probiotics, enzymes etc) can also be used therapeutically to assist in the correction of many underlying physical factors which are contributing to dis-ease or unbalanced states.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is the oldest and still most widely used system of medicine in the world today. It is medicine made exclusively from plants and it is used in all societies and common to all cultures.

Herbal medicine uses the leaves, flowers, stems, berries and roots of plants to prevent, relieve and treat illness. Each herb contains particular therapeutic constituents or ingredients in its natural context.

Plant medicines can be used for various curative purposes; from treating grazes and cuts to other more serious skin problems, reproductive conditions, digestive complaints, allergies, mental and emotional disorders, stress, insommnia, depression, hyperactivity, arthritis, weight loss, immunity, high blood pressure and endocrine conditions to name just a few.

There are many ways you can take herbal medicine, firstly you can add fresh or dried herbs to your cooking or make a tea. Herbs can be made into pressed tablets, capsules and tinctures or fluid extracts which can be made into a herbal formula blending different herbs. Herbs can also be made into ointments or creams and applied topically.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an effective and gentle system of natural medicine. The remedies are safe, non addicitve, have no side effects and are not tested on animals. Homeopaths understand that all diseases are part of a larger system, the whole body is influenced, the mind and the emotional state.

Treatment is based on sound scientific principles and philosophy which adresses the underlying cause of each condition. Emphasis is given on feelings and emotional status. Progress is monitored and patients are encouraged to participate.

Homeopathy has been proven for over 200 years and offers lasting relief from symptoms. Homeopathy treats the whole person as well as the individual characteristics of the problem and is therefore a suitable form of medicine for emotional as well as physical illness.
