Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural therapy working on the principle that different areas of the feet and hands are related to different areas of the body and helps to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively.

An increasing number of people are using this safe, natural therapy as a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonizing the body. Reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease.

These are some of the conditions I have treated:
  • Anxiety

  • Back pain

  • Depression

  • Digestive disorders

  • Cirulation

  • Hormone imbalance

  • Migraines

  • Pregnancy related conditions (including preparation for pregnancy)

  • Sleep deprivation

  • Sinusitis

  • Stress
Or simply as a PREVENATIVE measure

After a reflexology session you generally should feel extremely relaxed. Your sleep may be improved and any physical symptoms that you may have been feeling may subside. And there is frequently a sensation of 'walking on air' on leaving, together with the lightness of spirit that this feeling brings.

Massage

I will work with you as an individual. If you have chronically tense muscles I would focus on deep tissue massage which is especially effective on stiff “trouble spots" in your body i.e. shoulders, stiff neck or lower back. This style would focus on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.

Swedish massage

Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension. So the combination of the two would invigorate and relax but also help at alleviating tension areas.

During the treatment where necessary I would focus on acupressure points or meridians, these are points that carry energy throughout the body and relieve pain. It relaxes muscular tension and balances the vital life forces of the body.

Head and Face massage can be combined in your treatment. It’s a blend of soothing massage techniques combined with acupressure and chakra points. It can also help to relieve sinus problems, eyestrain, headache and insomnia, helps with lymph drainage and improves circulation to the face.

Pregnancy Massage

During pregnancy, your body goes through major changes. Pregnancy massage can help with these changes by reducing stress, decreasing arm and leg swelling, and relieving muscle and joint pain. Massage may be particularly helpful during a time when medication and other medical options may be more limited. Using towels or massage pillows will help get you into a comfortable position for this type of massage.

Acupressure Chair Massage

Chair massages are performed while you're seated fully clothed in a portable, specially designed chair. They usually involve a massage of your neck, shoulders, back, arms, and hands. This is ideal for massage in the workplace.

Pregnancy Massage

Bringing a new life into the world is a wonderful and challenging experience for both expectant partners. During pregnancy, your body goes through major changes. Pregnancy massage can help with these changes by reducing stress, decreasing arm and leg swelling, and relieving muscle and joint pain and promote general well-being:
  • massage can help to eliminate waste products through the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which combat fatigue and helps you to feel more energetic;

  • by aiding circulation;

  • muscular discomforts, such as cramping, tightening, stiffness, tension, and knots, can all be alleviated;

  • massage can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes mum is experiencing;

  • massage relieves many of the normal discomforts during pregnancy, such as backaches, a stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, oedema, and sore, swollen ankles and feet;

  • massage increases local and general blood circulation, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the cells of both the mother and foetus. This means greater vitality and less fatigue for mom and better nourishment for her baby;

  • massage stimulates glandular secretions, which helps stabilize hormone levels;

  • Can help to increase flexibility of muscles will be most helpful during the last trimester and during the birth itself massage helps to soothe and relax nervous tension, which helps you sleep more easily and more deeply;

  • A relaxed mother will have a happier, healthier pregnancy and possibly an easier childbirth experience, too.
