Pregnancy Yoga Classes & Workshops
MindedYoga for Pregnancy was created to provide pregnant women a more holistic pregnancy experience. Whilst exercising the body and practically preparing for birth are important and necessary I also believe there is immense value in exploring the emotional aspects of being pregnant . Unresolved feelings, concerns, issues or emotions however large or small have tendencies to either present themselves at birth or during motherhood. In the MindedYoga for Pregnancy yoga classes and workshops women are invited to (should they wish too) meet themselves fully and to be aware and mindful of their own feelings, thoughts and emotions without changing, fixing or pushing them away. In the yoga courses women are invited to do this through themes that are explored in meditation, breathwork, posturework and guided relaxations and in the Birth Art Cafe Workshops women are invited to explore deeper through the creative process of art. In our culture where the goal of birth is the primary emphasis of the pregnancy the intention of MindedYoga is to create classes where women can be fully present being pregnant...
The Benefits
There is no better time in a woman’s life to realise the benefits of yoga than when pregnant. The practice helps to: - Maintain a physically healthy pregnancy and alleviate ailments such as back pain, tiredness, pelvic pain and swollen joints.
- Promotes better sleep and relaxation
- Accept and understand the emotions of pregnancy and transition to motherhood
- Prepare for labour and birth both physically and emotionally
- Aid postnatal recovery and journey to motherhood
- Create a community of other women enjoying the same life-changing journey - often the starting place for deep friendships
Who can Join
Pregnancy Yoga is suitable both for beginners and experienced practitioners. I recommend that you rest in the first trimester and start yoga in the second trimester (12-14 weeks). You can then continue with the classes up until the birth
About Me
I have been practicing yoga since 2000 though I studied philosophy religion
and ethics and practiced martial arts in my late teens and early twenties before discovering Yoga. The practice of Yoga for me has been a beautiful and challenging enquiry into the interplay of the physical mental and emotional dimensions of myself.
My interest in the human mind and behaviours inspired me to
read a four year degree in Psychology and Social Anthropology at
university. Upon graduating I pursued an 8 year career in the city of
London as a successful Management Consultant specialising in the field of
Human Performance.
Becoming a mother motivated me to re-evaluate my life and I subsequently decided to become a full time mother to my two boys and follow my passion for Yoga. Yoga became and still is an indispensable part of my mothering journey and has given me the acceptance and compassion to deal with the struggle and difficulties but also the mindfulness to fully appreciate the immense beauty and joy. I am deeply grateful for these experiences and am thankful to be able share them with others. .
I completed my training with the Active Birth Centre who are original pioneers and founders of pregnancy yoga and active birth teaching. I now specialise in the field of Pregnancy and Birth and am completely dedicated to teaching yoga to pregnant women.
As well as the formal training I have received I draw on my personal yoga
practice my Psychology background, corporate experience and my experience as a mother to create authentic intuitive and unique classes. I trained with the
original founder of the Active Birth Movement Janet Balaskas who I now
co-teach with in London.
My personal yoga practice is inspired my wonderful teacher Halina Rozensztrauch and more widely by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, Donna Farhi, Sandra Sabatini and Judith Lasater
