Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Force. Ancient civilisations understood that this life force energy flows from the body, supporting optimal development and fulfilment.
Reiki is a precise method for transferring this universal energy to the recipient, while remaining fully clothed, by the placing of hands to the head and parts of the body. The practitioner channels relaxing and healing energies into the recipient to encourage healing at all levels: be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
Reflexology
Reflexology involves applying pressure to various reflex points on the feet, which relate to the internal organs of the body. By massaging these point an effect can be brought about in areas distant to them. When the body is said to be ‘out of balance’ it is not functioning very well. Reflexology helps the body to return to a state of dynamic equilibrium. The body has the ability to relieve itself of minor infections / disorders and the use of reflexology helps to reinforce this healing process.
Indian Head Massage
The actual treatment involves massage of the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, face and scalp while the client is sat in a chair and fully clothed.
This ancient technique works on both a physical and psychological level providing a de-stressing programme for the whole body. This is creating a balanced feeling of calm as stagnant energy is released and the energy flow to the body is rebalanced.
Chair Massage
Chair Massage allows the client, while fully clothed to have a relaxing back and shoulder massage.
This treatment can be as short as 15minutes, making it ideal to be used in the work place, during the lunch break. Apart from returning to work feeling extremely calm and relaxed, no one would know that you had been for a Complementary Therapy treatment!
About us
Merrivale Complementary Therapies was started and is cared for by Diane Allen, who is a fully qualified Complementary Therapist, qualified in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Reiki.
Diane is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Diane originally trained to work with children and adults with Learning Disabilities, which she practised for many years before working with the Elderly.
Some 20 years ago Diane had the wonderful experience of having a Reflexology Treatment, and in 1999 she decided it was the right time to train, not only in Reflexology, but Indian Head and Reiki as well and she has never looked back.
