Can I help?

Perhaps you are surfing the internet in the hope of finding something or someone who can help you resolve problems that you may be having, or you may simply feel ‘stuck’ and wish that you could feel alive again? For some people this materialises in severe emotional and physical pain.

What is vital for you is that you find someone who is able to listen and support you, who are able to draw on a wealth of training, knowledge and life experiences which can help you to explore, change and grow in a safe and confidential environment.

I’m able to provide that safe place where you will not only be listened too and shown empathy but so importantly acknowledge you as a unique human being with all the inherited and learned weaknesses and strengths that makes you that individual with complex and special needs.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help and support you in tackling a range of issues where you may be anxious, lacking self esteem, feeling loss and experiencing difficult relationships. More specifically where you may feel alone, sad, angry and confused, suffering perhaps from shock, abandonment, harassment, depression and other illnesses.

You may want to explore how to sustain, renew and enrich difficult relationships both in your personal and work place environments. This may connect with abuse, severe stress, loss, critical or traumatic incidents, for example relationship breakdowns, issues of intimacy and significant home and workplace life changes.

What is my approach?

Whilst my original training in the early 1990’s was psycho-dynamic I have subsequently attended many training programmes and courses which has extended my way of working into the humanistic, person centred and other working models. Additional courses and training has been undertaken in couple counselling, stress management, coaching and mediation; this has broadened and deepened my experience and has influenced the way I work with varied client issues.

This experiential background enables me to provide, where appropriate, in-depth therapy which explores pre-verbal, child and adult origins of problematic behaviour which adversely affects your relationships and life fulfilment.

I would use an eclectic approach in my work with you, i.e. tailoring the mix of therapeutic models to meet the complex range of issues you may present.

I believe that you and everyone needs to develop a more trusting and fulfilling relationship and so in our work together the goal is to build a therapeutic relationship where trust, understanding and commitment are core to the development of your self awareness and personal development.

Confidentiality

Is your service confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is of the utmost importance. There are certain ethical and legal exceptions included in the BACP Code of Ethics to which I subscribe. These exceptions usually have to do with putting others in danger and in which case it may be necessary to seek outside help. No action would be taken without me first discussing it with you in detail. It is very rare that any issues are ever taken outside the confidentiality of the counselling room.
