SERVICES

Welcome to Manchester Hypnotherapy
  • Pam Newbury and her team are each fully qualified, registered and insured hypnotherapists, based in south Manchester. Between them they have over 15 years experience of helping people regain control of their lives.

  • They teach their clients, using hypnosis, to switch off their anxieties and to find better, easier ways to make changes. Amongst those helped are those with severe anxiety and stress, people with weight issues, from those who want to lose a few pounds to compulsive eaters and bulimics, agoraphobics, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, tinnitus and IBS sufferers, phobics (including vomiting phobia, needle phobia, dental phobia, pigeon phobia, spider phobia, snake phobia, fear of hospitals, fear of flying and excessive fear of germs), those struggling with jealousy and possessiveness, those with addictions (such as prescription painkillers) and bad habits - nail biting, hair pulling, smoking - many individuals with social confidence, public speaking and self esteem issues, and those suffering with feelings of sadness and anxiety arising from past events.

  • A free initial consultation is offered, to help you decide if hypnotherapy could help you. After this consultation there is no obligation to have further treatment and so you have absolutely nothing to lose by making an appointment, and everything to gain in terms of your quality of life
About Pam Newbury

Pam and her team are fully qualified, registered and insured. Pam holds the Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy obtained from the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. The Diploma is the "gold standard" of hypnotherapy training in the UK, based on and mapped to National Occupational Standards. Pam also holds an honours degree in philosophy and psychology from Manchester University, obtained in 1988. She is registered with both the National Council for Hypnotherapy and UKCHO.

The treatment which you will undergo will enable you to live life to the full again, free from anxiety and worry, able to sleep better, to deal with stressful situations, and to take those steps - whether its related to weight, smoking, confidence or to specific fears which can spoil your enjoyment of life and take away your peace of mind - which you need to make to change your life for the better. Don't let anxiety and fear (of something in particular, like flying or needles, or a fear of giving something up) take over your life!

Pam and her team use a common sense, evidence based approach, in common with the vast majority of both clinical hypnotherapists in practice, and those researching the subject. Research and analysis shows that hypnosis can be understood either as a state of relaxation where the mind is far more than usually able to focus attention on particular ideas and suggestions, or as an altered state of mind. This "altered state" view is now widely discredited and hypnosis can best be understood as a very deep state of relaxation. Ideas about loss of control whilst in hypnosis stem from misunderstandings formed hundreds of years ago, and are unfortunately given support by entertainers who perform hypnosis on stage and who are responsible for the views of hypnosis held by the majority of people. Some people are therefore fearful of hypnosis, worrying that they will not be in control of their actions and may be made to do something against their will, or will not remember what has happened to them. However, being in hypnosis is a perfectly natural and safe activity, where you remain completely in control. You can stop hypnosis at any time. You absolutely cannot be made to do anything that you would not ordinarily wish to do. Hypnotherapy is a simply an extremely effective way of enabling you to make those changes in your life you wish to make.
