About

Helen qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1992 after training at the Freeman Hospital. She then went on to midwifery training but left to pursue a career caring for the elderly as felt she could make a huge difference to their lives through her very hands on and caring approach.

Helen progressed into management and worked for a large very well respected Nursing Home provider and became the youngest Manager in the North East at the time, providing registered ‘hospital beds’ within a private facility. Helen loved this role but decided she needed more flexibility in her working life. She decided to work on an as required basis travelling all over the North East working in Nursing Care Facilities and Young Persons Units as a Registered Nurse helping to solve any problems and issues they had. Helen was still working in this role when her husband was given his cancer diagnosis and she had to give up her work to care for him. She then decided to work from home and help support others to do the same with her health and wellbeing business so she was always available for her husband but also able to earn an income, and this is something which she continues to do today.

Helen’s personal life revolves around her horse that she has had for nearly 16 years. She loves to go riding along the beach, through the fields or along to St Mary’s Light House at Whitley Bay. She also loves to exercise (Yoga, Pilates and Hiit Fit) as it releases all those feel good hormones keeping her feeling motivated and positive. Most holidays are spent at the Lake District hill walking even if it is raining! She is a promoter of healthy eating and grows her own veggies and makes lots of delicious meals with whatever she has grown as cooking is another thing she likes to do. As well as volunteering she supports many animal charities. Helen feels very strongly about helping and caring for others and always wants people to feel they have had her focused attention with good intent.

'M' Technique

What is the ‘M’ Technique?

The ‘M’ Technique is a method of gentle, structured touch allowing you to deeply relax and to quickly allow the mind to unwind and let go of any inner turmoil. The results are very different from massage; it is more akin to a meditative type state.

Each movement is repeated a set number of times with the same very light pressure. It is carried out on the back, back of legs, face, head, neck/shoulders, arms/hands and front of the legs and feet. It gives a feeling of profound relaxation and is so gentle it has been described as magic, mesmerizing and physical hypnotherapy. The rationale for the set pattern of gentle touch carried out is to build up confidence and remove anxiety in the receiver. At first you will notice and pay attention to what is being done. The second time you will recognise the pattern of touch and the third time you will know what is going to happen and begin to relax. By carrying out these movements three times you will be lulled into a deep state of relaxation in a very short time.

The ‘M’ follows a very set pattern of movements which never change and is carried out at the same very light pressure. If you were to measure that pressure on a scale of 1 to 10, when 1 is no pressure and 10 is crushing pressure, the ‘M’ Technique pressure will always be at a pressure of 3. Conventional massage alters the pressure and the routine depending on the receiver.

The ‘M’ is very different to massage and research/ brain imaging shows it working on different areas of the brain, it being more akin to meditation therefore more relaxing.

Treatments can be given through thin clothing if preferred.

Who is it suitable for?

The ‘M’ is suitable for young and old and those with life limiting/altering conditions who may have been told massage and some complimentary treatments are not suitable for them. The list below is just some of those conditions it can help. Cancer, MS, Fibromyalgia, those suffering from pain, Motor Neurone, Epilepsy, Dementia, Autism, pregnant ladies. Also those who feel stressed, anxious, tense, unable to sleep or switch off.

What to expect

The ‘M’ where possible is a full body treatment, although it can be split up into just hands/arms, legs and feet if this were felt to be more appropriate for the individual. Aromatherapy essential oils can also be used to compliment the treatment if felt appropriate. All treatments are carried out in a very professional, knowledgeable, individualised manner with caring, understanding and privacy and dignity being maintained at all times.

Prices

£45.00 for a full hour of treatment. Helen is a qualified Aromatherapist and if essential oils are appropriate this is included in the price.

Allow 1 ½ hours for the initial appointment (no extra charge). One treatment per week is recommended for six weeks for specific issues then an individual maintenance plan can be discussed.

Client Testimonies

“ ‘M'Technique is a painless and inexpensive intervention. Helen is a trained nurse skilled in delivering this course of treatment. Results can be immediately felt in terms of relaxation and improved sleep. After a couple of treatments there are benefits on energy, vitality and concentration. I can fully recommend this approach.”

Professor Douglas Turkington MD, FRCPsych, MbChb

“Recently I have been undertaking 'M' Technique therapy and have been for a couple of months now. I must add I am not normally one for therapies or treatments however, it has been massively helpful in relieving my stress. Helen is superb and is immaculate in her presentation and made me feel instantly at ease with the therapy. Her room of practice is highly relaxing and very professional, the bed used for the therapy is also relaxing as it is heated pre-therapy. Helen is very kind, helpful and knowledgeable, I would advise anyone to give this therapy a shot, as it certainly has relaxed and helped me get a better night’s sleep.”

Susan

“The 'M' Technique is fantastic for relaxation-simple, gentle, safe and effective. I've tried it myself.”
