Thanks for visiting!

When people think of hypnosis they often recall what they saw on stage or television, where a person makes someone do or say silly things. This is not the role of the hypnotherapist.

SERVICES

Hypnotherapists help people deal with both psychological and physical issues by using hypnosis as a powerful, therapeutic tool. The client is always part of the process and does not relinquish control during the session. They will never be asleep or lose consciousness, but will be aware of what is happening and can stop a session whenever they desire.

Hypnotherapy is an entirely natural state that can bring positive change into clients' lives. It has grown in popularity in current years, with more people now trying a different approach to their problems and issues. I am dedicated to the care and development of my clients.

CONFIDENCE AND MOTIVATION BUILDING

Our early years have a huge influence on the adult we become, but personalities are not set in stone, and with work and commitment people can and do change.

For those with low self-confidence and self-esteem this may seem impossible. But if you think you lack confidence you will, at some level, be making an internal image of yourself as looking, feeling and behaving in this way which will reinforce a poor self confidence.

There are many areas of life, e.g. sport, business, arts performance, that confidence and motivation building are important. For others, confidence is needed to tackle everyday issues.

Whatever your needs and requirements, the use of hypnosis can help you connect more strongly with goals or desired emotional states.

FEARS AND PHOBIAS

'Normal fear protects us; abnormal fear paralyses us.' Martin Luther King Jr

Fear is a normal emotion; we all experience it from time to time. It is normal to try to escape from danger and seek safety, and the bodily changes people feel when anxious are part of the way our body prepares us to face a real danger. However, not everything we fear is life threatening, and even when it is something many fear e.g. physical injury, we do not alter our lives because of this fear.

The amount of disruption is what distinguishes a phobia. About 10% of the population suffers from one or more phobias. They can cause intense fear and often severely limit the lives of those who have them.

The different kinds of things people are afraid of seem limitless. These can range from phobias of things in the outside world (e.g. heights, injections, certain creatures, natural phenomena, objects) to experiences in their own bodies or minds (e.g. emotions a person feels unacceptable, thoughts/images of germs on their hands, memories of past traumatic experiences). Some fears are much broader (e.g. fear of going too far from home, the fear that others are judging you).

Through the sessions you will consider the causes of the phobia, learn new behaviour patterns and eliminate fears, which could lead you to a more positive future.

PAIN RELIEF

In Britain, nearly 10 million people suffer pain almost daily resulting in a major impact on their quality of life and days off work. (The British Pain Society).

Pain has a variety of tasks. It can protect damaged body parts while they heal; it can motivate you to remove yourself from situations that would damage you; and it can remind you to avoid similar circumstances and experiences in the future. In most cases, once the painful circumstances have been removed and the body has healed, most pain quickly diminishes.

But sometimes pain persists despite the removal of the problem and the apparent healing of the body. Pain can even arise where there is no detectable evidence of a problem, damage or disease. And then there is chronic pain, which is defined as lasting more than three months.

Hypnosis and various techniques can be used to work on your pain and the anxiety and depression it can cause.

STOP SMOKING

Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable illness and premature death, killing over 120,000 people prematurely in Britain every year ( more than the total deaths from illegal drug use, HIV, alcohol use, road traffic accidents, suicides and murders). Smokers will usually die 10-12 years younger than non-smokers.

Each cigarette contains more than 4,000 chemicals, most of which are toxic and more than 60 are carcinogenic. This is without counting the 260 dangerous ingredients in the paper, filter tip, ink, whitener and glue. And when lit, the change in chemicals carries its own health risks.

All this and we haven't touched upon second-hand smoke affecting those around the smoker.

As places to smoke decrease, and the price of cigarettes and costs to health increase, now would seem to be the perfect time to quit.

WEIGHT LOSS

Recent studies have found that foods that are high in fat and sugar cause specific chemical changes in the brain, similar to that of someone using an opiate drug. When you starting eating, the pleasure hits your brain and you just can't stop. You can eat when you're not hungry; obsess when, where and how you will eat next; feel guilty, hopeless, depressed as the weight increases and your self-esteem decreases.

Overeating can lead to obesity and numerous health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, problems with joints.

Most overweight people have, at some time, tried a 'diet', while for others it becomes a way of life bouncing from one new fad to the next. But for many this can lead to misery and hunger and all too often you end up where you started or with even more weight to deal with.

Through hypnosis and supportive techniques you can break this repetitive behaviour and learn to develop a healthy relationship with food. Leave anxiety and guilt behind.

Change your relationship with food from the inside out,

I also gastric band weight loss therapy for those who would prefer this method.

ANXIETY, STRESS AND PANIC ATTACKS

Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe.

Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life, e.g. taking a test, having injections. Feeling anxious is sometimes perfectly normal. However, people with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) find it hard to control their worries. Their feelings of anxiety are more constant and often affect their daily life.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

GAD is a long-term condition which causes you to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than one specific event.

People with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed. GAD can cause both psychological (mental) and physical symptoms. These vary from person to person, but can include feeling irritable or worried and having trouble concentrating or sleeping. In Britain, GAD is believed to affect one in every 20 adults at some time in their life.

Anxiety is the main symptom of several conditions, including Panic Disorder

People with panic disorder have sudden and repeated attacks of fear that last for several minutes. Sometimes symptoms may last longer. These are called Panic Attacks. Panic attacks are characterized by a fear of disaster or of losing control even when there is no real danger. A person may also have a strong physical reaction during a panic attack. It may feel like having a heart attack. Panic attacks can occur at any time, and many people with panic disorder worry about and dread the possibility of having another attack.

Stress

The stress response is the body’s way of protecting you. When working properly, it helps you stay focused, energetic, and alert. In emergency situations, stress can save your life – giving you extra strength to defend yourself and helps you rise to meet challenges.

But beyond a certain point, stress stops being helpful and starts causing major damage to your health, your mood, your productivity, your relationships, and your quality of life.

Hypnotherapy can aid in dealing with your stress and anxieties and can help you live a more relaxed and panic free life.
