SERVICES
About Us

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. I am registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health Professions Council (HPC).I am also a member of and have full accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and use the Cognitive-Behavioural model in most of my work. I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for 16 years.

My qualifications include an MA in Child Psychology from Nottingham and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Sheffield.

I have professional insurance.

I have worked with all age groups.

I have worked with Adult clients in 2 different services : in IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Services) and in a CMHT (Community Mental Health Team) assessing and treating people with complex psychological difficulties.

I have also worked with children, parents and families for 10 years in a Child, Adolescent and Family Therapy Service (CAMHS) and in Surestart. In addition I have carried out extensive research for the Mental Health Foundation into the impact on families of having an autistic child and written booklets and run groups for brothers and sisters of autistic children.

Psychological Therapy

Working within the NICE guidelines I use a Cognitive-Behavioural approach to working with children and adults. However I draw on and integrate other treatment models into the therapy where appropriate.

I am interested in making use of recent developments in CBT such as Mindfulness and Compassionate Mind therapy, where beneficial to the client. The therapy is very much a collaborative process where the client and I work together to achieve agreed goals.

The Psychological problems I treat

I use very comfortable rooms at a treatment clinic called The Cloisters to provide therapy. This is situated at Lower Leam Street, Leamington Spa CV31 1DJ

If you wish to ring and ask more questions or book an appointment please do contact me by phone or email. See the Contact page for these details.

Initially we will meet for an assessment session. It will last for 60-90 minutes. I recognise that this can be a bit nerve-wracking at first and this is why we take our time. It is when we talk about your presenting problems and create a shared understanding of how they have developed, how you experience them now and how they are maintained.

After you have decided that you want to continue with therapy, each session will then last for an hour.
