About Us

Jill Munro - Reiki Master / Teacher

This could be your first step along the Reiki path, whether it is learning to heal yourself, having a course of Reiki treatments to improve your general well-being, or perhaps even a new stage in your spiritual development.

I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, with five years Reiki experience. I operate in the Swadlincote, Burton and Derbyshire area, offering holistic healing treatments for a variety of conditions, including stress, anxiety, exam nerves and other ailments. I also run Reiki workshops, where you will learn self-healing and how to become a Reiki practitioner.

Reiki

Reiki is deeply relaxing and calming; it is particularly effective for relieving stress.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is not liked to any specific religion or religious belief.

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique, which uses spiritual energy to treat ailments without pressure, manipulation or massage. It is a holistic system for balancing and harmonising all aspects of the body, mind, emotions and spirit. It stimulates and accelerates the body's own natural healing abilities.

Reiki is deeply relaxing and calming; it is particularly effective for relieving stress. It may be used alongside orthodox care, but is not an alternative to conventional medicine. It can even be given to people who are unconscious, and is often used in hospices. Reiki energy can benefit animals and plants. It can be sent remotely to any person anywhere in the world and to any areas of conflict.

What does a Reiki treatment involve?

A Reiki session is usually carried out with the client either lying down on a therapy couch or sitting on a chair in a safe, peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing, apart from spectacles, shoes and heavy jewellery. Reiki energy will pass through all materials, including plaster casts.

During the treatment, the practitioner places her hands gently on or over the client's body. The client's body automatically draws in as much energy as is needed, and will use this Reiki energy in the most appropriate way.

Reiki may be experienced as a mild tingling sensation, warmth, coolness or as a flow of energy. You will be fully aware during your treatment, but are likely to feel very relaxed. If at any time you want the treatment to stop, you have only to ask, as you are always fully in control.

Even a single Reiki treatment can make a difference to your well-being; however a course of regular treatments will be more beneficial.

The treatment will be enhanced if you are able to rest afterwards and drink plenty of water to help your body's de-toxification processes. It is important to be aware of your body's needs as the energy continues its work in the days following the treatment.

A typical couch treatment will last one to one and a half hours, including consultation time. A seated treatment lasts around 30 minutes.

The treatment can be carried out in your home or in my therapy room. Short taster treatments are available on request.

Reiki Workshops

To become a practitioner of Reiki, you must first go through a process of attunement.

This attunement is passed from Reiki Master to Student. Reiki is taught at three levels:

Level 1 enables you to bring about balance and harmony within your body through self-healing. At this level, you will be able to give Reiki to family and friends, but no money should change hands in return for the healing.

The Reiki 1 workshop takes place over two consecutve days, running from 10 am to 5 pm each day. During the workshop, you will be given four separate Reiki attunements.

After 3-6 months at Level 1, you may feel ready to move to Level 2, practitioner level.

Level 2 workshops are, again, held over two consecutive days. You will receive one attunement and be shown extra ways to enhance your Reiki treatment. At this level you can, if you wish, set up as a practitioner and charge for treatments. You will also be able to obtain the necessary practitioner insurance.

Level 2 students are encouraged to complete up to four case studies should they later decide to move on to Master/Teacher level (Level 3).
