SERVICES

Welcome to Alexander Michael Jamieson

I am a fully qualified clinical hypnotherapist using classical hypnotherapy (analytical and suggestion) E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) cognitive behavioural hypnosis using R.E.B.T (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy) and elements of N.L.P.I am also a Reiki healer which can be included within the treatment if required.

Pages of information could be written regarding the treatment and how it works, but really all you need to know is that it does work and can be applied to numerous problems, too many to list, it is always best to phone for advice.

Some Examples that can be dealt with by using Hypnotherapy

Phobias

An irrational fear. Are you uncomfortable in crowds or using public transport? Have you cancelled a holiday because of your fear of flying? Wary of getting into a lift? Do insects, reptiles or animals terrify you? Driving in tunnels? Being in or on water? High buildings, towers, how do heights affect you? What about needles for blood tests and injections, dentists, do they bother you? Encountering human or animal sick? do you panic? Phobias are so common that most people are aware of something that makes them uncomfortable. Why put up with it when you can be desensitised.

Performance Anxiety

Fear of being judged in some way. How are you at work? Anxious about giving presentations, interviews, dealing with customers, staff,or colleagues? What about sport? Is your game as strong as it could be, or do nerves get the better of you, are you calm and in control? Are you a musician, singer, actor or performer of some description and not performing as well as you know that you can?

Self Confidence

Self esteem, comparing yourself to others. Self worth, how you respect yourself. Are you assertive, do you stand up for yourself, are you the equal of others or do you feel inferior? Can you say no to lovers, work associates, family and friends? Learn to love yourself not in an egotistical way but as a worthy human being. Your improved self confidence can help with exam nerves, driving tests, job interviews, creating new relationships.

Unwanted Habits

Learned from repetition. You may bite your nails, have a tic / twitch, as with phobias the variety is immense, so phone for advice.

Weight Control

Not weight loss, weight lost will be found again. Weight control to remain how you realistically want to be. How do you think about food? Does it comfort you? change the way you think about food. Acquire the will and motivation to exercise, eat a healthy balanced diet and use self hypnosis.

Hypno-Band weight loss system

Do you have a BMI of 30+ and have been considering Gastric Band Surgery? What if you could have all the benefits of a Surgical Gastric Band but without the surgery, risks and cost? Hypno-Band hypnotherapy creates a state of mind where you will believe you actually have a Gastric Band fitted, so you will eat smaller portions and feel full. It is a long term solution to your weight problems.

Compulsive Behaviour

Unable to stop yourself even though you know it's not what you want. Do you keep selecting the wrong partner, are they violent, drinker, drug user, gambler or abusive? Why are you compelled to do this? At a subconscious level are you being drawn to these people?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Are you obsessive in your behaviour? Maybe you fear being contaminated or catching a disease and so wash more than normal. Is food preparation safety a big deal for you? Do you have to have items in lines or certain positions and if they aren't will it continually worry you until everything is just right?

Insomnia

Convince yourself that you can't sleep at night and surprise, surprise, you won't sleep at night. Learn new ways to think and behave at bedtime, acquire positive sleep habits.

Pain Control

People's threshold of pain varies. Get into the Control room of your mind and turn down the pain control dial.

Psychosomatic Illness

Have you been thoroughly investigated by the medical profession, doctors and consultants and nothing appears to be wrong? Perhaps there is a part of you that wants to be heard and to get your attention creates a symptom.

Past Life Regression

If everything else hasn't worked, then the answer may lie in a past life. You might have carried something over into this life from a previous life.

Loss

Unable to move on, to let go of an old relationship or maybe time is not healing a bereavement, cant let go?

Strong Emotions

Excessive jealousy, anger, envy, any powerful emotions out of control affecting your life? Why do you feel this way? Do you have it all, all life has to offer but still feel unhappy and can't understand why? These are just a few of life's problems which can be dealt with by using clinical hypnotherapy. Don't phone tomorrow or next week, phone now to book an appointment, what have you got to lose except for what it is that is stopping you from fully enjoying your life.

With anxiety, Stress and Tension a factor in an increasing number of peoples lives, I thought that the article below may be useful to you.

Anxiety with Depression or Depression with Anxiety?

Usually the above two are linked, if suffering with anxiety you may feel depressed or if suffering depression you may well feel anxious. My clients suffering with anxiety often develop panic attacks, IBS and phobias. Continually worrying about what may or may not happen in their lives does not help with being able to feel calm, relaxed and in control, but will of course increase feelings of stress and tension.

Stress if left untreated can seriously affect our work, social life relationships and health. The stress response is often referred to as the flight/fight response which is a natural protective mechanism originating from primitive man when it was needed for fighting or to run away when physically threatened. In the modern world most of our stress is psychological but it still activates the primitive flight/fight response in our minds. During stress the sympathetic nervous system which is responsible for action responds by increasing heart rate and blood pressure forcing blood to areas of the body that need it during activity. It slows down digestion. Blood is diverted to the brain and muscles to ready for running or fighting. Under stress urination will occur more frequently as urination and defecation lightens the load for the body to run faster. An increase in respiration so that more oxygen makes its way to the muscles. Increase in perspiration helps the body to cool. Muscle tone increases to get ready for action. An increase in blood clotting in case of injury. Increases in adrenaline and noradrenaline will raise the heart rate. Increase in cortisol which prepares the body for physical activity.

The Autonomic nervous system maintains the body's balance and is divided into two components, the sympathetic nervous system (already mentioned and the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for rest.) which can be stimulated by hypnosis. The sympathetic and parasympathetic should be in balance, with the sympathetic nervous system being calmed down by the parasympathetic nervous system after the flight/fight response has been activated. If the sympathetic is not being calmed leaving it active, then the result is damage to health.

Prolonged exposure to stress is a serious issue which may lead to prolonged health problems and even death and should not be thought of as unimportant.

Short Term Effects

Physical

Headaches, gastrointestinal problems, aches and pains, trembling, sweating, insomnia, elevated blood pressure, weakened immune system.

Psychological

Panic attacks, anxiety, aggression, depression, poor concentration, feeling helpless, lack of confidence, avoiding social activities.

Long term effects

Physical

Stomach ulcers due to high cortisol levels, greater risk of getting opportunistic infections (some experts would include Cancer and Rheumatoid Arthritis) hypertension, heart attack, stroke.

Psychological

Chronic depression, Psychological breakdown.

As you can see stress exposure needs to be dealt with and clinical hypnotherapy will aid the client to learn how to cope, to relax, be calm and maintain the body's equilibrium. The therapy will let the client be in control of their stress and not the stress in control of them. Talking to a qualified, registered clinical Hypnotherapist makes sense not only for the individual but for employers. From an employers perspective read the effects of stress once again and imagine how they will affect the performance of your employees. A member of staff suffering from stress will not be delivering their true potential to the benefit of the company. Just think how greatly improved the performance of a relaxed happy healthy employee will be compared to the output of somebody with the stress symptoms. A successful employer will be alert to the mental health of their staff particularly during the present economic conditions. Having alert, relaxed confident staff contributing more may give the edge over your rivals!
