Microsystems Ear Acupuncture / Auriculotherapy - Protocols for supporting stress and anxiety, blockages to healing and treatment, emotional disorders and musculoskeletal protocols, used as an adjunctive treatment to medical care. Individual treatments for individual patients.

Good health depends on balance of all our body systems - called homeostasis, excessive stress disrupts this balance. Stress is responsible for many disorders of the body, one way to relax and help re-balance and harmonise our mind and body, is by using a natural therapy.

Microsystems Acupuncture

Alongside medical care and advice, ear acupuncture may be offered as an individual treatment or during reflexology, following a consultation to check for any contra-indications.

It is based on the belief that areas such as the foot, hand and ear correspond to all organs of the body, similar to reflexology. The protocol offered promotes relaxation and aims to ease symptoms such as tension, headaches and insomnia. It may help bring comfort and improve quality of life to clients living with certain chronic conditions.

The treatment involves using up to five very fine sterile needles in each ear, when a brief sharp sensation may be felt, while resting for between 30-45minutes, considered a relatively non-invasive treatment while relaxing the mind and body. Can be given as an individual or during a reflexology treatment.

Reflexology

A Reflexologist uses pressure techniques on the hands and feet, including relaxation, to work on reflex points and help restore naturally your own healthy balance. A treatment usually lasts one hour, however the time and number of treatments vary, depending on the individual.

Any treatment is adapted to the individual, for example: lighter pressures or touch, or can be a brief or longer treatment time, particularly with children. It has no boundaries in terms of age limit, making it accessible to babies as well as teenagers.

Children like adults can also suffer physically from stress related ailments, also psychological and emotional turmoil while growing up. It can be used to open up pathways of communication via touch and relaxation time, depending on the child. Self-help methods may be taught or parents can be shown certain techniques to use on their child, for example with ailments such as colic or constipation.

Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) is a short but effective treatment, using reflexology techniques, which can be used on its own or to enhance a conventional reflexology treatment. It offers a beneficial treatment while standing or sitting, or if time is of essence, also providing deeper access to reflex points, with relaxing non-invasive techniques.

Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) has won the 2011 Highly Commended Award for its "Outstanding Contribution to Complementary Medicine" from the Institute of Complementary and Natural Medicine (ICNM)

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. It has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc(Hons), whilst working in cancer care. The results appear to support the theory of reflexology.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may aid:

  • Stress-related conditions
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Digestive disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Joint pain
  • Muscular pain
  • Mental health issues
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Fertility Issues
Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.

Younger People and Children's Health

Children under 16 yrs must be accompanied to the appointment by someone with parental responsibility for that child and remain during that session.
Complementary therapies are not considered to be a substitute for medical treatment or advice, however they may often be combined to enhance treatments or offer support:

Ear Candling

A gentle alternative to ear syringing, softening and loosening compacted ear wax, in a safe way. A pleasant treatment which may help relieve 'glue ear' or stuffiness caused by allergies. Suitable for older children who are able to lie still during a treatment and following a consultation (as with any treatment) to check medical history. The ear candle is held gently touching the opening of the ear. Only high standard Biosun candles are used, for a simple and safe treatment.

Contraindications: would not be used if grommets are in place, recent surgery, ear infection or any inflammation present, fever or perforated ear drum.
