ABOUT ME

My interest in homeopathy began twenty one years ago when I became a mother for the first time, and was searching for an alternative to antibiotics for my baby’s constant chest infections. I was astounded by the ease with which the problem cleared up with homeopathic remedies.

After my second child was born, and after a pregnancy and labour during which I only used homeopathy, resulting in a very easy birth and a robust, healthy baby, I gave up my career as a photographer to train professionally, qualifying as a homeopath in 1998.

As well as setting up in private practice, I became a founder member of the Charterhouse Complementary Therapy Service which operated for ten years in one of London’s most deprived boroughs, delivering low-cost therapies to Southwark residents. This was a unique education for me as I gained experience in treating all kinds of health problems, particularly those caused by poverty, over-crowding and racism.
During this time I became interested in the benefits of meditation and was invited to start teaching relaxation techniques to various groups such as elderly day-care residents and pregnant mothers.

I have since worked with hundreds of clients from 0 to 99 years old, and am constantly energised by witnessing the profound healing effect of homeopathy and the benefits of relaxation/meditation techniques.

Recently my GP said to me “I know homeopathy works, because I never see your children”. That, and the quote from Dizzy Gillespie may encourage you to try homeopathy for yourself and, who knows, even if you are not a jazz lover you, too, may find it a revelation.

HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT FROM HOMEOPATHY?

MINOR AND ACUTE ILLNESS/FIRST AID

Homeopathy is able to treat all kinds of acute illnesses, and can often do away with the need for conventional medication such as antibiotics. This makes it very attractive to parents of young children and anyone else concerned about the over-prescription of drugs.

When used as first aid in accident or injury, homeopathy will not only speed up healing but will also prevent subsequent problems from developing.

CHRONIC AND DEGENERATIVE ILLNESS

It is estimated that over 500 million people worldwide are regular users of homeopathy, and demand for a safe and effective system of medicine continues to grow as the conventional drug based methods, which work by suppressing symptoms, prove increasingly ineffective at curing chronic diseases.

Here are a few examples of conditions which can be successfully treated by homeopathy:

Addictions
Allergies
Arthritis
Asthma
Back Pain
Behavioural Problems
Chronic Fatigue/M.E.
Depression
Eczema
Glaucoma
Glue Ear
Hay Fever
High Blood Pressure
Insomnia/Sleep Disorders
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Menstrual and Menopause Symptoms
Migraine
Panic Attacks
Psoriasis
Recurrent Infections/Low Immunity
Thyroid disorders.

Homeopathy is also a valuable support for children with ADHD, Autism, Aspergers Syndrome, Downs Syndrome and other special needs. In my own experience working with children with the above conditions, there is a significant improvement in such areas as speech, cognitive function and behaviour, as well as in associated physical problems, e.g. heart murmurs, intestinal disorders.

HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT FROM MEDITATION?

It is well known that stress can cause a myriad of health problems, and that health problems can increase stress levels. Fewer statements can be said with more certainty than “Everybody needs to relax!”

Recent research has clearly shown that meditation provides a healthy route to deep relaxation and a state of calm wellbeing. As the mind and body begin to communicate with each other in a new way, tension and other energy blockages melt away.

The discovery of endorphins (the neuro-transmitters that control pain and create pleasure) has scientifically validated meditation, as endorphin release is greatly enhanced by relaxation techniques of various kinds. Even better, the regular release of these neuro-transmitters creates new neural pathways in the brain, increasing intelligence and cognitive function. Yes, meditation makes you smarter!

The techniques I use in my sessions come from my many years of study in Tai Chi, Chi Gung, Pilates, Feldenkrais and different forms of Taoist and Buddhist meditation practices.
They are easy to learn and provide valuable tools, which can be incorporated into daily life.

A typical session consists of a combination of gentle warm up exercises, breathing techniques and guided visualizations.

Exercise increases mobility of the joints, strengthens muscle and bone and improves sleep. This is particularly important for those whose lifestyles are sedentary, such as the elderly or infirm or those with desk-bound working lives who have little opportunity to move.
Exercise is a direct way of “ coming into the body”, something which is not encouraged in western cultures, whose emphasis is on the ego-driven pursuit of success and achievement.
It is only when we connect with our bodies that we are able to heal them.

Breathing is the one thing we must all do - all the time. Learning to control the breath, especially when other parts of ourselves may feel out of control such as during illness or in a state of anxiety, is a simple way to regain a sense of stability and inner composure.
As the chest relaxes and the blood flows more easily through the heart and lungs, the beneficial effects are felt immediately throughout the system.

Guided visualizations provide the opportunity to play with the imagination and the creativity within us all, which is often suppressed or ignored in one way or another. Giving the mind permission to be playful, while in a state of deep physical relaxation, is a wonderful way to learn more about oneself.
Connecting with the unconscious through imaginary journeys produces insights, which have previously been unavailable to the conscious mind. Painful memories can be healed and new aspirations discovered.
As the past and future come together in the present, negative patterns of thought and behaviour transform into positive, healthy energy.
