SERVICES

Welcome to Hilary Fairclough Homeopathy

Professional homeopath practising for the past 15 years in North and Central London: passionate about healing body and mind through homeopathy.

Why come to see me?

Given our busy and demanding lives, we often have stress-related illnesses and need a ‘healing space’ where we can take our troubles (emotional, physical or both) and be listened to in a non-judgmental environment. As a homeopath I am a sensitive and skilled listener and will give you the time and space to tell your story. In this space we can explore what your health issues are and develop a healing partnership, through which you, me and the remedies work together to restore your well-being and help to resolve whatever is holding you back from having a fully healthy and creative life.

What do you have that I can help you with?

I treat people with a wide range of health needs. It may be that you have had one illness after another and are experiencing low immunity, you want to avoid drugs or surgery, you are experiencing the side-effects of conventional medicine or you may have the following:

  • Hormonal imbalances – menstrual, menopausal, infertility or pregnancy symptoms

  • Digestive complaints – indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, constipation

  • Respiratory problems – recurring coughs, asthma, Hay Fever, catarrh

  • Circulatory imbalances – hypertension, palpitations, headaches, varicose veins, haemorrhoids

  • Joint and back problems – fibromyalgia, arthritis, low back pain

  • Skin eruptions – excema, allergies, molluscum, rashes

  • Recurring infections – tonsillitis, ear infections, cystitis, thrush, herpes, sinusitis
    Sleep and energy disturbances

  • Emotional issues – such as stress, anxiety, depression and irritability
Any of these I can help you with.

Also available: individualised labour and post-operative healing kits.

Treating the ‘whole you’

Homeopathy treats the whole person – the remedies stimulate your natural healing capacity and help to gently restore balance, health and well-being.

During the consultation I listen to you describing your particular health issue and make links where appropriate between the onset of physical symptoms and particular stresses, shocks or upsets which you might have experienced. I have a holistic approach, always looking at your whole health ‘picture’, and using the philosophy that everything is connected and that homeopathy can help heal your body’s learned patterns of responding – whether on an emotional or physical level.

What about your children’s health?

My experience is that children who have homeopathy throughout their growing up are healthy, can resist the many viruses which go around and have a strong vitality and emotional balance. As I have been practicing for over 15 years there are many children on my books whom I have treated from birth, helping with toddler tantrums and night terrors and the anxieties of starting school through to the hormonal and emotional challenges of being a teenager. Often parents use me as a health ‘first stop’, using homeopathy to treat their children with such complaints as fevers; repeated ear, chest or throat infections; stomach-aches; difficulties with teething; bed-wetting and many other health issues, physical, emotional and behavioural.

Homeopathy is flexible

Using knowledge gained from my nursing background I will offer the homeopathy prescription alongside medication prescribed by your Doctor or as an alternative to it, depending on the seriousness of your complaint. Homeopathy can help you to avoid or reduce medications where appropriate (with the consent of your GP). We can discuss these options at your consultation where I will suggest an individualized plan of care.

About me

I became a homeopath because as a nurse I saw many people with chronic illnesses treated with different conventional medications which produced both toxic interactions and side effects. I thought that there had to be a system of medicine which promoted health and which took into account the experience of illness not just the physical symptoms produced. I found this medicine in Homeopathy – both the theory and the practice of it fitted my own philosophy. Of course before training I tried it myself for a long-standing health issue – and it worked!

I trained in homeopathy at the London College of Classical Homeopathy, qualifying in 1995. I am a fully insured and registered member of the Society of Homeopaths.

Before training to be a homeopath I worked as a nurse for 10 years specialising in community nursing and palliative care and I am a trained bereavement counsellor. I have set up two NHS Homeopathy Clinics and am Founder and Director of The Maun Homeopathy Project, a registered charity which provides free homeopathic outreach clinics for people living with HIV and AIDS in Maun, Botswana. In 2010 I received the Society of Homeopath’s “Outstanding Achievement Award” for my work in setting up and running this charity.

As a full-time professional homeopath for the past 15 years I have long experience in treating people (adults, children and babies) with a wide range of physical and emotional complaints. I draw on the knowledge gained as a nurse, bereavement counsellor and as a volunteer in Botswana where I am also a registered homeopath. I use a system of prescribing homeopathy called the “Triad Method” for people living with ‘complex’ health conditions – either chronic physical illness or deep emotional trauma. I practice homeopathy as a science and an art, drawing on both sound knowledge and intuition to make the right prescription for you.

Testimonials

“Picture this. I am staying in a remote cottage in Cornwall without a car. I have a temperature of 102, spots on my throat, delirium, and a book to finish. My desperate publisher suggests I call Hilary Fairclough, a homeopath who has a practise in London and Penzance. She sends round a remedy called Lachesis, made from snake venom. Four hours later I have no symptoms whatsoever.”
Jeanette Winterson, writer, Guardian article 13.11.07

“I’ve been seeing a homeopath, Hilary Fairclough, who’s fabulous and has been treating me since about 1998. It’s helped me through some really difficult patches in my life and it’s really supportive without being intrusive. I would go to my homeopath before my doctor, unless it’s something really serious. I’ve tried most alternative therapies available to be honest. The one that I’ve stuck with is homeopathy and I think I will always use that.”
Jayne Middlemiss, TV presenter
