About Us

“12 years ago I went to see a nutritionist. Tired, exhausted and feeling at a low-ebb I followed all that I was told to. In a matter of weeks, my health and subsequently my life completely turned around. That year I quit my job and soaked up all that I could learn about nutritional medicine.

As a qualified nutritional therapist for nine years now, my quest for knowledge and research remains as passionate as it was then. I am adamant about my approach being practical for you to achieve. Vitality doesn’t need to equal deprivation (we all live in the real world after all).

Your body is often capable of redressing the physiological imbalances that can cause disease when given the right tools specific to you. I have seen the results of this with my private clients time and time again.”

Henrietta hold’s nutritional clinics in both London and Sussex. Her consultancy work expands to provide expert nutritional advise to a leading UK supplement company, researching and developing new products for the health market, as well as providing regular nutritional expertise to the press.

Nutrition

This section explains in more detail, the areas Henrietta works in and the approach she take’s. Although she primarily works within Women’s Nutrition, Children’s Nutrition, Fertility & Pregnancy anyone is welcome in the clinic – every health niggle has its place.

Women's Nutrition
“Health is a journey, starting from infancy and ending as an elder, and our requirements during this time are staggeringly different. In your latter years you may need specific support for the menopause and in your younger years the focus may be on stress support or fertility. Whichever stage you are at, your nutritional status forms a vital part of your experience. By getting down to the nutritional ‘nitty gritty’ we can investigate why you may not be experiencing wellness in the way that you should during this particular stage of life. By addressing your nutritional needs right now you are also giving yourself the gift of preventative medicine for the years to come.”

Henrietta work’s in the following areas:
  • Endometriosis
  • Pre-conceptual preparation
  • Optimum pregnancy & breastfeeding support
  • Sub-fertility in men and women
  • Support during fertility treatment
  • IBS
  • Fatigue
  • Healthy weight loss
  • Stress, anxiety and depression
  • Food intolerances
  • PMS
  • PCOS
  • Fibroids
  • Menopause

Children's Nutrition
Practical solutions for optimum health and emotional wellbeing, from weaning through to adolescence.

Henrietta’s quest for a healthier ‘next generation’ is from both a professional and personal point of view.

“As a mum of two young boys, I understand first hand the desperation of colic and reflux, the itchiness of eczema, the consistency of winter colds and the craziness of too much birthday cake. I also know as a professional that the power of a sound nutritional status in a child, is immeasurable, and can go a very long way in dealing with most of these. In my experience many states of dis-ease develop from small imbalances that are left untended from very early on, and for this reason alone it is crucial to support your child’s health not just for the ‘right now’ but also for to optimise the chances of a healthy future. I also feel that this is a crucial stage for your children to develop a healthy attitude to food, birthday cake should not be the enemy and nor should it be the staple; Vegetables can be delicious not a chore. Balance is the key to developing this healthy attitude, for both parent and child.

I believe that children are the most in touch with their bodies than of any other age group; this means that they are wonderful to work with. Not just because of their natural wonder but at how responsive their physiology is to a few simple changes. Small tweaks can make a profound difference. We have to give them the best start that they can have, this is my priority, and actually a bit of a personal and professional mission.”

Henrietta believes it important that the consultation with your child be as un-intrusive and informal as possible. For this reason you, the parent or guardian, are asked to fill out the form (unless your child is a teenager) and the consultation to be held with you. It is very important that Henrietta meet your little one so that she can subtly check them over, depending on their age, this does not usually last more than 15minutes. After this initial time you are welcome to have them collected (sometimes this is easier and more appropriate depending on the nature of the health concern) or they can play with the toys or get crafty with the colouring pencils in the consultation room. As the Parent or guardian, one of the main priorities of the nutritional programme is to ensure that you feel supported in implementing it for your child.

Tests will be recommended where further investigation is needed. Again, these are as un-intrusive as possible.

Henrietta works mainly in the following areas:
  • Digestive problems such as IBS
  • Fatigue
  • Colic
  • Reflux
  • Eczema
  • Food intolerances
  • Persistent colds, ear or throat infections
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Behavioural concerns
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Post operative recovery

Fertility & Pregnancy
This is a very emotive area of health for both men and women and one that certainly requires an individual approach. Nutrition is no longer ’alternative medicine’; your diet builds the foundation stones of your ability to conceive and support a healthy pregnancy, whether naturally or alongside assisted conception. In some cases nutritional shifts are all that are needed, in others a more ‘integrated approach’ is needed but both need balanced emotional and nutritional foundations to achieve optimum results.

Henrietta has extensive experience in supporting women with conditions such as PCOS, hypothyroidism, endometriosis, fibroids as well as men with low sperm motility and mobility.

Henrietta is a registered Foresight practitioner (The Association for the Promotion of Pre-Conceptual Care) and fuses the ‘cherries’ of this approach with her own, to develop a program that promotes fertility and conception specific to you and your partner. This closely followed program can address the key factors related to sub-fertility and infertility. A recent study showed Foresight nutritional therapy had a 78.4% success rate in those with unexplained fertility compared with 22.7% success rate of IVF assisted conception alone.

Where appropriate Henrietta will use investigatory tests such as hormone profile screening to identify a specific imbalance.

Pregnancy

“There is so much information out there about what to do or what not to do when pregnant, that it is easy to get confused. I know this not only as a professional but as a mum and prospective mum too and this is where a lot of clients are at when they come to the clinic. The point is that what is right for you in your ‘uniqueness’ is what is right for your baby. By harnessing and maximizing your individual health we will also nurture your little person and its future. Add to that fact that sound nutrition can reduce unwanted pregnancy symptoms such as stretch marks, morning sickness, heart-burn and boost recovery and breastfeeding post-birth. A pregnancy nutrition program you can follow week by week through your pregnancy calendar.”

Post-Pregnancy

“This is a particularly tender and special time and I know it can be a very vulnerable time that requires a lot of emotional and physical support. Your health post-birth is just as crucial to your baby’s health as it was when it was growing inside you, even more so if you are breastfeeding. A healthy nutritional status can provide enormous support in breastfeeding and emotional stability after the birth, as well as post-operative support or recovery from intervention during labour.“

Consultations

Henrietta works from two clinics, The Clinic at Borde Hill in Sussex and a private clinic in London (please contact Henrietta to find out more about the London clinic). The Clinic at Borde Hill is a converted barn at Naldred Farm and provides a relaxing environment set amongst the beautiful fields and trees of Borde Hill estate. There is ample free parking onsite, this clinic benefits from its location:

Henrietta works in close company with other health specialists and where necessary may recommend you for supportive treatment such as acupuncture or cranial osteopathy. Where appropriate she will inform your GP or other medical consultant of the treatment plan with your consent, “I feel this open communication can play and encourage a collaborative approach to support your wellbeing”.

What happens?

A questionnaire and 3 day food diary will be sent to you before the consultation. This is a purposefully detailed questionnaire so please be patient and thorough, it will make a big difference to your experience of the consultation. Once you have completed this please email or post to the clinic at least 48 hours before your initial consultation.

How long is my first consultation?

The initial consultation will be 1 hour. During this time Henrietta will work with you so that you leave with an understanding of your bodies nutritional status and an effective program to begin your route to improved health. Practical, financial and personal considerations are valued and together an achievable plan will be put into place that you feel both comfortable and confident with.

How many consultations will I need?

This varies from client to client but commonly a client should have a follow-up appointment 4 weeks after the initial consultation, followed by another consultation 6-8 weeks later. In some circumstances further follow-ups are both necessary and mutually agreed.

The encouragement will be there for you to take control and understand the mechanisms of your own health without relying permanently on a nutritional therapist.

Henrietta has put together some ‘wellbeing programs’ as a result of client requests and for simplicity. However each one will be tailored to you and your requirements. If you are unsure about which one might be for you, you can contact Henrietta to chat it through.

Book an appointment

I work from a clinic in both Sussex and London. I can also do follow up consultations by skype if more convenient.
