CranioSacral Therapy (Upledger)

I am an holistic practitioner treating the whole person. I believe it necessary to maintain a balance between the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual dimensions of our lives.

I offer the following therapies:

Upledger CranioSacral Therapy (adults and paediatrics): a very light touch, therapy which can be deeply effective on a wide range of conditions from simple aches and pains to the most chronic or persistant problems.

Therapeutic Massage: I trained in Swedish massage in 1997. My massage style has developed over the years and continues to develop as I am exposed to different techniques, ideas and training. My massage has been influenced by osteopathic soft tissue massage, craniosacral therapy, acupressure, visceral manipulation, No Hands Basic massage training and Thomas Meyers Muscle Trains.

Reiki: Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced.

Yoga:
Yoga-4-Health is about the health and movement of the spine and creating strength at the core of the body. Postures are modified to suit all levels of flexibility. In each class there is also some pranayama (breathing) exercises and the class ends with relaxation.

Join me for an hour and a half of stretching and breathing and fun. Discover the joy in stretching and moving your body.

I also offer a combination treatment of various techniques. These may be any combinations of:
  • CranioSacral Therapy
  • Massage
  • visceral manipulation
  • Somatoemotional release
  • therapeutic imagery

My son has suffered from a disorder in his hips which was picked up when he was 3 (he is now 11), since then his treatment has been calpol, rest and endless x-rays. With one leg noticibly shorter than the other I was becoming increasingly concerned. A friend recommended Cranial Sacral therapy. I contacted Patricia via the Natural Therapy pages. Her response was warm, friendly and professional. She put my son at ease and talked to him with respect explaining everything she did and encouraging him to ask questions. She did not make any promises but 4 sessions on and we are seeing an improvement. The leg appears not as shortened and I cannot tell you the joy at seeing my son running with his dog and not suffering the pain he has grown to live with.
Thank you Patricia.
-Wendy

CranioSacral Therapy

Because individually we produce our own different reactions to trauma, stress and loss of healing capacity, we each present our own unique combination of symptoms, pains and dysfunctions. CranioSacral Therapy is a profound form of ‘hands-on’ bodywork. CranioSacral Therapy is gentle and safe enough to treat new born babies, pregnant women and the elderly yet strong enough for active persons and structures like muscles, joints, nerves, organs, vessels [from babes to rugby players].

During a treatment the body often (but not always) begins a spontaneous process of making corrections and readjustments. This may take the form of physical movements, emotional releases, deep relaxation and tissue ‘unwinding’.

CranioSacral Therapy is excellent at helping the body cope with trauma. Trauma includes falls, accidents, blows, surgery, physical and emotional impingements and the birth process itself all of which can lead to neurological irritation, vascular constriction, tissue contracture, sclerosis or other such influences. These patterns of disharmony becomes imprinted into the tissues at many levels – in the soft tissues, the membranes, the fascia, the nerve endings, the peripheral nerves, the central nervous system or in the energy systems.

Treatment time and frequency

Sessions typically last 1 hour, and the number of sessions required will vary with the problem and client. The first treatment will be 1 hour plus 15/20 minutes for a case history.

Benefits of CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is suitable for every age from new born babies to the elderly, including all ages and stages in between. It is particularly valuable in babies and children since the establishment of healthy patterns, at an early age, sets patterns for the whole future of that individual, both in their health and in their capabilities. It can also have a profound influence on the effects of birth trauma. Acute or long-term pain and health problems also benefit from CST.

CranioSacral Therapy enhances well-being, health and vitality. An excellent way to maintain health. [See website for further information]

Therapeutic Massage

I trained in Swedish massage in 1997. The massage you will receive is my own developed awareness and sense of the tissue beneath my hands; and what those tissues require to release their compensatory strain patterns and pain.

Massage therapy improves:
  • and restores mobility and motility to soft tissue and joints
  • stress, tension and emotional trauma
  • circulation and muscle tone
  • helps relieve muscle tension and stiffness
  • reduces muscle spasm
  • helps relieve tension-related headaches
  • reduces blood pressure
  • improves posture
  • enhances the health and nourishment of the skin
  • strengthens the immune system
  • aches, pains and generally assists the body’s own healing process
  • the detoxification of soft tissue
  • the capacity for calm thinking and well-being
Massage is beneficial for all ages - you’re never too old or too young to benefit from massage.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of hands-on healing which is deeply relaxing. It releases energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality and well being in the form of healing universal life energy. It is also useful in treating serious illnesses as well as cuts, burns, internal diseases, emotional disorders, and stress-related illnesses.

The word Reiki is Japanese and means ‘Universal Energy’ – the energy that flows through all living things. It was rediscovered by Mikao Usui in Japan in the late 1800’s.

What to expect during Reiki treatment

You relax, fully clothed, on a couch or seated while the Reiki practitioner holds her/his hands on or above you. A treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. In the western world many practitioners use the standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body.

There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience!
