The aim of Foot Health Clinic is to offer a timely private podiatry service to all people who request professional assistance with their foot care in order to alleviate pain and discomfort and maximise foot function.
The purpose of Foot Health Clinic is to assess, evaluate, diagnose and treat all conditions affecting the foot and lower limb, with the aid of medicaments, appliances, therapies and equipment as appropriate.
Foot Health Clinic operates a reasonably flexible appointment system offering morning, afternoon and evening appointments at various locations throughout South West Fermanagh.

About Margaret
Margaret graduated from the Northern Ireland School of Chiropody, Belfast in 1983 where she obtained a Diploma in Chiropody and subsequently graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Podiatric Medicine. She commenced practising within Northern Ireland Health Service where she is still employed on a part time basis in a specalist role treating mainly "High Risk" Patients.
Margaret is registered with the Health Professions Council as a podiatrist.
Her registration number is CH08549.
Margaret is also a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
Her membership number is 9576.

Margaret has over 25 years experience practising as a Podiatrist. As an employee of the Western Health Trust in Northern Ireland she has gained invaluable experience as she has worked at every Professional level within the organisation. Margaret has also experience working for the Health Service Executive in Southern Ireland and in private practice in Galway and Wexford. As well as much clinical experience Margaret has been employed in a Podiatry advisory and management capacity to Western Health and Social Services Board for many years. Margaret has chaired the Northern Ireland Podiatry Managers' Forum and she has also represented the Podiatry profession on regional Northern Ireland committees.
Margaret has undertaken continual professional development throughout her career and maintains high standards of practice keeping abreast of professional issues and relevant technology and education.

Pathological Assessment
Many diseases affect the foot and lower limbs and must be considered at assessment. A full medical history is necessary including details of all prescribed medication.

Vascular Assessment
The status of the blood circulation to the lower limb and foot sometimes requires specific assessment of arterial blood flow to and venous blood flow from the lower limb.

The nerve supply to the lower limb must be assessed in terms of sensation felt by patient and any muscle motor function inhibited.

A thorough assessment of the skin is imperative and might necessitate taking skin swabs or nail clippings requiring further analysis

Orthopaedic Assessment
An assessment of the bones of the foot and their associated joints is necessary and may on occasions require referral to x-ray or scanning.

Biomechanical Assessment
A detailed biomechanical assessment is sometimes required for the younger or sporty individual who experience frequent mechanical strains / sprains /overuse injuries. Such an assessment may require gait analysis on a treadmill and sometimes with the aid of pressure plate analysis systems.
