I was introduced to Reiki by a friend in 1996 at a Natural Health Show in our town. Since that day I have never looked back. I had recently taken an evening course in reflexology which started my interest in complementary therapies. That day I sat in on a lecture on Reiki healing and I was totally absorbed by the gentleman speaker. I had never heard anyone talk so passionately about his love for this healing therapy and from that day on I had to find out more. Within a month I had taken my 1st Degree course and felt like I had found my true path. Suddenly out of the blue I met a Reiki Master who came into my life at exactly the right time and we became the best of friends. Before I knew it I was taking my 2nd Degree Course which was full of fun and laughter. Some time later this lady went to live overseas she had fulfilled her purpose and was moving on. (People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or lifetime). We all have a part to play in each others lives. In 1997 I was guided to take my Reiki Masters/Teachers Degree and since 2003 I have taught others to receive this gift of healing. I feel it is a gift that should be shared by all. We all have some healing energy coming from our hands Reiki attunements allow access to this energy through your body for the benefit of yourself and others.
My mission
Reiki is based on love for ourselves, others and the universe through compassion and respect for all creation. I wish to provide Reiki knowledge, guidance, healing and attunements to make Reiki available to everyone that seeks it and pass on this gift of healing. Also to make Reiki available as a complementary therapy so healing can be spread throughout the world.
To teach the Dr. Usui method of traditional healing so that it does not lose it's originality.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese form of “hands on healing which is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. Reiki involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to patient to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy. It is a holistic healing system for mind body and spirit and complements other therapies. Reiki is pronounced (ray-key) representing universal life energy the energy which is all around us. Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular sequence of hand positions around the body to heal and harmonise and balance the body’s energy system. Reiki energy has several basic effects; it brings about deep relaxation destroys energy blockages relieves fatigue detoxifies the system and increases the vibrational rate of the body. In Reiki healing the practitioner places his or her hands above the recipient who then draws the energy from the healers hands as needed so that the recipient plays an active part in the healing process and takes responsibility for their own healing needs. Reiki has an intelligence of its own and will go where it it is most needed be it body, mind or spirit.
Reiki is not attached to any religion and is therefore available to everyone.
History of Reiki
Reiki is believed to have begun in Tibet several thousand years ago. Unfortunately this healing system and original source itself was forgotten. Dr Mikao Usui a Japanese Christian Monk who lived in Kyoto in the late 1800’s rediscovered this system and called it Reiki. He began a twenty one year study of healing and ancient sounds and symbols which are linked directly to the human body and nervous system which active the universal life energy for healing. Dr Usui passed on this system of healing from master to student until his death around 1893.

I have known Cheryl Duggan for about four years; we met at a local Spiritualist Church in which we formed a friendship. As time progressed Cheryl spoke about her being a Reiki Master and teacher. She would tell me about what it involved until one day I asked if she would teach me Reiki. I have done both Reiki 1 and 2 with Cheryl. I had my operation a few weeks later and the Doctor was extremely happy, as there was no malignancy in my body. Cheryl is a credit to the healing profession as she lives by her own ethical code. I only wish I will be as helpful to people with my healing as Cheryl has been and still is to all mankind.

Sometimes in this busy world we live in, I wish that we could just press a button and just stop this rat race and just take a moment.
I met you first in July 2004, and thanks to you and your Reiki Treatments, I now know that as a Sales Rep, in the hub of a high pressured environment, I can come to see you, for Reiki and for just over an hour every part of my body inside and out feels as light as a feather any pain or stress I felt going into a treatment appears to evaporate away. The amazing thing that I find with the treatment is that it carries on long after. Like anyone I have also been though some emotional trauma in my life and bit by bit the Reiki helped me deal with the issues and come to terms with tough choices I have made.
It is not often in life we find the time to write to someone and thank them for their help and support. I would like to thank you for all the healing I have had in the past but most of all thanks for helping me recover from my operation in May.

Love and Light….. Whenever I say these words I think of Cheryl. We met about 18 months ago and I think it is true to say it was a turning point in my life. People come into your life for a reason a season or a lifetime.
I work in a busy retail environment full of stresses and strains. I was struggling to come to terms with my own abilities at the time. My path was unclear and sometimes I felt so isolated in my beliefs.
A mutual acquaintance was given a job in the office and suggested that a Reiki healing might be beneficial to me. I duly made the appointment to see Cheryl and felt a giant weight had been lifted off my shoulders not only was the Reiki session very calming and uplifting but I had found a kindred spirit in Cheryl.
We quickly formed a bond and Cheryl taught me Reiki one and two, my life has been full of joy and wonderment ever since. She has been a constant support to me, and a font of knowledge, the teaching never stops. I hope one day to be a Reiki master and can only hope to be half as good as my Sensei.
