Welcome to Ease'nflow Massage

Massage is an age-old technique that works through the healing power of touch. It’s well known for easing aches and pains such as muscle sprains or strains, and can relieve pain in chronic conditions such as arthritis, or fibromyalgia. It can also help by reducing the effects of stress and high blood-pressure.

Ease'nflow Massage can help you feel more relaxed, improve your sleep so you feel invigorated, ready for action.

Ease'nflow treatments include a wide range of massage techniques, from focussed remedial sessions to longer full-body treatments. Aromatherapy and Reiki treatments are also available.

Holistic Massage Therapy
Holistic therapy means massaging the person, not just the body; working with you, rather than just giving a massage to you. Each treatment is tailored to meet your needs at the time.

About Ease'nflow Massage

A few years ago, I decided to change the direction of my life by studying for a professional diploma in Holistic Massage Therapy at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork.

I am now fully qualified in massage and aromatherapy, registered with the Massage Training Institute and The Complementary Therapies Association. I am qualified as a Reiki practitioner to Level 2. I practice in Plympton, near Plymouth (www.theobservatory.com), and Ashburton, Devon (www.devondental.co.uk) and can also travel to other venues in the South West.

I continue to develop my skills and deepen my understanding by attending a regular supervision group and taking professional development courses.

I believe in the healing power of touch through holistic massage.

I am passionate about helping people find their way towards well-being by encouraging positive responses to life-changes.

I want to share with others the powerful benefits that massage can bring - how it can ease the body, calm the mind, and lift the spirit, so your life can flow.

Therapeutic massage

How does massage work?

Massage is an age-old technique that works through the healing power of touch. We have an instinctive response to touch from when we are tiny babies which continues throughout our lives. Many of us do not experience enough caring and supportive human touch.

When we are under stress or feel fear or anxiety, our bodies respond with adrenalin to boost the system into action. Unfortunately, we can get stuck in this heightened state of "alert", resulting, over time, in actual physical damage and disease.

When the brain senses the right "quality of touch" it enables muscles to let go of tension, relieving stress and anxiety. We feel refreshed because our brains have "switched off" the part of the nervous system which is designed to make us more alert. Body and mind can then begin the task of repair, refreshing and restoring what life's trials have taken out.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy adds a powerful and delightful dimension to massage..

... by using pure essential oils (plant essences) which are highly valued for their beneficial healing properties. Their aromas are known to affect our senses, and also our emotions. They can be uplifting, like bergamot, or calming, like chamomile, or both calming and uplifting, like lavender. Oils like lemongrass, or black pepper can ease muscular aches and pains, and reduce the pain of arthritis or rheumatism, . Oils such as sandalwood or benzoin are wonderful for de-stressing, helping to promote better sleep and relaxation. Neroli might be used to reduce nervous tension or melissa to counteract high blood pressure. In all, there are at least 42 essential oils which might be combined or applied in different ways, depending on the client’s needs and symptoms.

Unlike commercially available mixes, the blending of essential oils in an aromatherapy treatment is done specifically to meet an individual’s needs at the time, using pure unadulterated oils. The client’s responses to the oils are also important in deciding the prescription and the course of treatment required. Essential oils are taken into the body directly through the sense of smell, and also through the skin during an aromatherapy massage, when they are applied in a mix with other ‘carrier’ oils, such as sweet almond or peach kernel oil. These carrier oils also provide important nutrients (such as vitamins B or E) for the skin, and can be beneficial for some skin conditions, such as psoriasis, or eczema.

An aromatherapy consultation will identify the right blend for you, which will usually be applied in a specially designed aromatherapy massage. You will also be advised how to use essential oils yourself at home to increase the effectiveness of the treatment. Because their effects are powerful, it is best only to use essential oils for treatment at home under the direction of a qualified aromatherapist.

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing, first developed in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui.

Reiki is an intuitive form of healing that works by sensing energy imbalances in the body, through the laying on of hands on the body, or by feeling the changes in the energy fields (auras) around the body. The therapist tunes into a universal source of energy and then channels this through their hands, laying these on the client, sensing any energy changes, such as increased heat or cold or tingling, and picking up changes in the flow or density of the energy at particular points around the body (chakras). Sometimes the hands are lifted off the body, the better to sense the depth of energy around it.

By tuning into this universal energy it is thought that Reiki treatments are able to help re-balance any differences in the energy field, or auras, around the person, which usually arise after trauma or illness. Reiki treatments are deeply relaxing, a form of meditation for some, and can help the client feel more centred, calmer and clearer of purpose. Some patients report feeling uplifted, or lighter, supported by this renewal of their energy field. Occasionally a ‘healing crisis’ may occur, where the person may feel emotional, or tearful for a while, however, this is not something to worry about, as it is thought to be deeply beneficial when this happens.

Depending on the need and the capacity of the client, treatments can be quite short, e.g. half an hour, or may last up to an hour. Clients are fully clothed throughout the treatment, and it can be undertaken lying down on a couch, or sitting in a chair, whichever is most comfortable for the client. It can therefore be particularly suitable for elderly or infirm clients who find lying down on a massage couch a bit uncomfortable.

Client Feedback

Joint and Back Pain

Mrs JS, November 2014

"I call Sara the magic lady with the healing hands! Sara has such a warmth coming from her inside and out and I immediately felt relaxed with her. Sometimes it is like being in a car wash (that makes Sara laugh when I tell her!) and other times she takes so much care and extremely slowly can ease up any stiff or painful areas. Before I started seeing Sara I could hardly get down the stairs in the morning (because I suffer from arthritis and fibromyalgia) but now I manage so much better and my joints and muscles and tendons move so much more freely.

Sara listens to me as well and so some areas she is more gentle than others. Sara is brilliant the way she can feel her way around (she once said to me the body is like a map!) I like the fact she tells me all about what she can feel (I seem to have quite a lot of crystal type deposits in certain places which she is slowly working on dispersing - amazing!!)

Before I had my first massage with Sara I had only ever had one massage before about 20 years ago and I was in so much pain afterwards that I thought I would never ever have another one but now I look forward to my massages so much - I'm a different woman! Thank Sara you truly are 'The Magic Lady'."
DU, November 2014

"After suffering for over 10 years with a semi-dislocated shoulder injury (suffered in my late teens) & increasing back pains leaving me with limited use of my left arm, I went to see Sara (after meeting her 5 years prior at a business networking event).

After speaking with Sara & a quick examination she identified exactly what has happened to my body due to the injury & route problem. Plus explain how my body compensated due to the injury. After 30 minutes of massage therapy I got some use of my arm back & felt my body start to relax.

Since then, I have been back to see Sara for fortnightly massage therapy which has given me nearly full use of my arm & vital relaxation. After 10 years of constant pain & only being able to use 1 arm plus going through x4 physiotherapists, x4 doctors & x4 X-rays all of which dismissed the injury, I got use of my arm back thanks to seeing Sara.

Sara knows what she is doing, listens to & cares for her clients plus can communicate clearly technical information that patients can understand & learn to help themselves.""
Manual Lymph Drainage

Mrs T.S.

Before
"After having treatment for breast cancer I have suffered from Lymphoid fluid retention, which swells my hand and arm leaving my arm and hand swollen with a tight feeling and very uncomfortable.

I have tried several treatments in the past which have been unsuccessful. Having to always wear long sleeves to cover up the swelling this has left me quite conscious about my appearance."

After
"I decided to source an alternative therapy to see if this would help my condition. After calling Sara at Ease'nflow to find out more about Lymph drainage massage I decided to try this method. The treatment has been very successful with fantastic results.
My arm and hand are more supple and the fluid has been re trained to drain through specialist massage which Sara's is trained to carry out. I can highly recommend Sara and the treatment for Lymphoid fluid drainage. It is so nice to at long last feel normal and not have to hide my arm with long sleeves. I will continue to have this treatment once a month to keep the fluid on the move." "
Mrs J.M.
"I had impaired mobility due to lymphoedema and asked Sara to perform manual lymph drainage on my lower leg to see if it would help. The procedure was quite painful as my leg was swollen up, but afterwards I got some relief, for a few days at least. Repeating the process over a period of time helped the swelling to go down some more."
Mobile Massage Service

Mrs J.M.

"Sara treated me with seated Indian Head massage when I was laid up with a broken hip, awaiting an operation. While she could do nothing about the hip, having the massage done on my head, neck and shoulders was very soothing and relaxing and helped to ease aches and pains in that had built up in my arms and shoulders as I was only moving around at all on crutches. She came to my home for this service with all the necessary equipment which was most helpful as I was housebound at the time. She managed to give me some respite from my constant pain. I have continued to receive her services while recuperating after the hip operation as it has taken me some time to get back my fitness. Gym exercises which were prescribed for me at the time left me very stiff and uncomfortable and the massage helped to ease this. Without the massage inbetween I don't think I would have kept up the gym exercises."
