Welcome to Dr John Plowman Therapies

Still struggling to stop smoking even with the 'work place' and social No Smoking Legislation? Then let Hypnotherapy help you stop.

My name is Dr. John Plowman. I am a hypnotherapist based in South Wales, with a private practice in Preston Avenue, Newport, and a clinic in Cardiff. I help people deal with many different problems through hypnosis but I do have my specialities.

In particular, I treat a lot of smokers who wish to become non-smokers. I also help people to control their drinking or reach their true potential in the sport that they pursue, professionally or otherwise. I also handle shyness, blushing, problems with presentations in business or as a teacher, student, etc.

I am also one of the leading specialists in the field of Past Life Regression (PLR) and have lectured to international congresses on PLR. Also I deal with a vast array of other problems. In addition to my clinics to help people, I have written a book on stopping smoking and a book about hypnotherapy.

Body Health

People often cause themselves difficulty because they have a firm belief that it is difficult to give up smoking.

With hypnosis, the suggestions are designed to make you into a non-smoker so you don't "give up", you just stop thinking like a smoker. This thought process may take you time to develop, so I often do a cd which records our session and you can then reinforce the desired behaviour and thinking patterns while you're at home.

Hypnotherapy works by encouraging the power of the unconscious mind. You've probably heard it said that most people only use 10% of their brain on a day-to-day basis. One of the most powerful and under-used parts of the brain is the sub-conscious.

When you are in a hypnotic state, your subconscious mind is more open to suggestion than usual. If we make the suggestion that smoking is something you don't want to do any longer, then, next time you reach for a cigarette, your powerful subconscious mind will instruct your conscious mind that you don't want it and you certainly don't need it.

Mental Health

It is easy to get discouraged when things go wrong and give up on your goals rather than pursue them.

However, hypnosis can help to motivate you and overcome any obstacles you encounter.

Whether you need motivation to succeed in your personal or professional life, in study or sport, hypnosis is an option worth exploring.

Past Life Regression

Can past life regression (PLR) be helpful? Yes, there are people who have received help and healing from what is "remembering" some event from a past life.

It would appear that most people who have experienced PLR have gone to a previous human life but this is not always so. I personally have been regressed a number of times and twice, quite spontaneously, found myself swimming with a pod of dolphins and that I was one of them. I had a feeling of great comfort and reassurance from this and it is known that people who have actually swum with dolphins have experienced some relief from symptoms such as depression and ME.

So one reason that people come for PLR is for healing and some therapists would say this is the real reason for doing it. Another reason is to experience whatever comes up and I mainly conduct PLR for the interest that people have in it. I have practiced internationally in America and Holland as well as in the UK and did PLR on a woman who travelled from France to me in Wales. I have also done a presentation on PLR in Montreal, Canada.

I have also presented my work and case studies at international conferences and was a guest lecturer on PLR at the XXVI International Conference of Psychology in Montreal. I have also had several articles published on my experiences of being regressed and of regressing my clients. There is research to show that PLR is a therapeutic experience. Many case studies could be given of where healing has taken place after PLR has been conducted. One thing is for sure that to have experienced PLR is to look at "living" in an entirely new way.
