Chiropractic is a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the functions of the nervous system and general health.
There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft tissue manipulation. (World Federation of Chiropractic, 2001).
Many people 'put up' with aches and stiffness as they think this is a normal part of life when in fact they could be greatly reduced with Chiropractic care.

I first became involved in Chiropractic when I was 15 years old. Being a competitive swimmer when I was younger, I suffered from shoulder, back and other injuries.
These problems were attributed to as 'growing pains' by other health professions and I was told that nothing could be done. I was advised to give up a sport I loved due to the problems I suffered. Chiropractic treatment helped ease those problems and has enabled me to continue competing to this day.
Due to the excellent results I, and a close family member had, from Chiropractic care I decided to train to become a Chiropractor myself so I could help people in the same way I had been helped.
After studying hard for four years at the University of Glamorgan in South Wales and graduating in 2006 I decided to move back to my home area and use the skills I learnt and try to help local people.
I am still a competitive swimmer and swim for Newton Hall ASC, and currently in the form of my life, having just achieved a long term target personal best time recently. I am a member of Blackpool Water Polo team and enjoy most sports. I have regular Chiropractic adjustments to help keep me functioning well.
From my own personal experience of how Chiropractic helped me with my sporting ambitions I have a special interest in helping sports people achieve their aims. Chiropractic may help with the competitors conditioning and play a big role in helping them reach their goals.
Regular members of the public get the same problems as athletes, although the athlete requires their body to perform at an enhanced level therefore small musculoskeletal problems can inhibit performance.
I get a great sense of achievement and job satisfaction knowing that I have helped improve the quality of life for someone due to care I have given them.
