The services I offer are Psychotherapy, Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Executive/Life Coaching. I have over 18 years' experience working with people who wish to make changes in their lives. I can use my training and experience separately (e.g. someone may wish to only use my counselling or coaching skills) or I can work in an integrated way and use all of my training and experience in a way that best suits the client's needs.

The following pages outline the services that I offer for people seeking help, support, assistance and guidance with a wide range of issues. I would define myself as a "talking therapist" who has trained in a wide variety of therapies. This, in conjunction with my extensive therapeutic and life experience, enables me to use a wide variety of tools and techniques with the issues that clients present.

I firmly believe that all of us have the potential to lead lives which are happier and more fulfilled. My approach to all of the "talking therapies" with which I work is to try to put myself in the position of the client and endeavour to work in such a way to maximise their potential to achieve their goals.

About Us
I am an Accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor with the BACP. The BACP is the largest approval body of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in the UK. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Life Coaching and I am a member of the BACP Coaching Division.

I am also a Sales and Marketing Manager for a small marketing company, working on a part-time basis. This helps to keep me "grounded" and aware of workplace stresses in what can be a very difficult and challenging world.

The stresses which people are experiencing today can create problems of anxiety, depression and other mental health issues; exacerbate existing conditions and put a strain upon marriages and relationships.

My varied employment history (public sector, private sector and self-employed) and my own periods of unemployment help me to be empathic to the needs of my clients. Also, my own therapeutic journey and practising the techniques that I use has convinced me that positive change with the right support is always possible.

My Integrated Method

I believe all clients are unique and need to be respected as individuals. I do not work with a "one size fits all" approach. Research informs us that the crucial element in therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. My training in Life Coaching, CBT and different models of Counselling and Psychotherapy gives me a wide variety of techniques and enables me to work in ways which are best suited to my clients. Whilst my underpinning theoretical base is Person Centred I always aim to try to adapt my working methods to ways that are most effective for my client's needs.

I believe that the depth, breadth and extent of my training and experience enables me to offer a wide range of techniques to assist clients achieve the goals which have brought them to seek help.

Psychotherapy and Counselling

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) define Counselling and Psychotherapy as: "Counselling and Psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing." There are a range of different Counselling and Psychotherapy "models" all of which can be effective dependent upon the individual needs of the client and the quality of the therapeutic relationship.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

The British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) define CBT as follows: "...What people think can affect how they feel and how they behave... During times of mental distress, people think differently about themselves and what happens to them... CBT practitioners help each person identify and change their extreme thinking and unhelpful behaviour..."

Life/Executive Coaching

Life Coaching can be very beneficial for people who wish to make changes in their life and believe that they need some support (coach) to help them on this journey. The coach assists clients to find their own solutions and directions they wish to take to achieve the goals that have been agreed between coach and client. Coaching does not look backwards. It is focused in the "now" and on where the client wishes to be in the future. My varied employment experience (in different managerial roles) also enables me to work successfully with company executives (executive coaching) and to act as a sounding board for their problems and operate as a safe place to offload stress. Furthermore, the experience I have gained through my training in "talking therapies" provides me with an invaluable asset to my coaching work.
