Hello, welcome to my page.
My name is Christine Corbett, a Complementary Therapist, who is highly qualified, professional and very experienced, having worked within the industry since 1997. I am very enthusiastic about complementary therapies and am a great believer in their many benefits.
My experience includes working in the United Arab Emirates at the 5 Star Kempinski luxury spa hotel resort in Ajman; Lucknam Park Hotel, one of the country's top country house spa hotels and providing treatments at Dorothy House Hospice care. I was also a part time Lecturer for Wiltshire College for several years, training many students in Holistic and Complementary Therapies.
I carry out treatments at my home in a calming and relaxing environment and can adapt treatments to suit your individual needs. Over the years Complementary Therapy has become much more popular and accessible as people have realised these therapies are invaluable to their general well being. So, be kind to your self and take some well earned 'time out' - I am sure you will notice the difference and feel the benefit!
I can blend together a range of essential oils to suit your own individual requirements, whether you need to de-stress, relax and unwind, or to feel energised. Massage generally aids the release of toxins and increases circulation and lymphatic drainage, toning and helps maintain flexibility and mobility.
Safe techniques and oils are applied that can help ease back ache, cramp, anxiety, headaches, insomnia and swelling of the ankles. Helps promote a feeling of relaxation and general well being.
The 'M' Technique is suitable if you are feeling fragile. The 'M' Technique works on skin receptors which send signals to the brain and has been described as 'physical hypnotherapy' and a 'spiritual dance'. The 'M' Technique is different from Swedish massage in that it is a simple method of structured touch. Each movement and sequence is done in a set pattern at a set pressure and set speed. It is gentle, deeply relaxing and has been known to help with pain relief, mobility, low energy and assist with lymphatic drainage and circulation.
Massage and gentle pressure is applied to the feet working on specific reflex points which correspond to areas within your body. Reflexology aims to rebalance the mind, body and spirit and can be effective in de-stressing, boosting your immune system, circulation, elimination of waste products and assist the promotion of deep relaxation.
Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage
Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised system of Reflexology. Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD) is an award winning Reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the Lymphatic reflexes on the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the Lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc (Hons) whilst working within Cancer Care.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is used to treat conditions such as Lymphoedema, which is defined as tissue swelling due to the failure of lymph drainage. MLD is also used to treat other conditions and Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage can be used in a similar way and may be useful with the following conditions: Arthritis; Asthma; Eczema; Chronic fatigue; Fibromyalgia; ME; Sinus problems; Migraine; Headaches.
It could also help if you need to detoxify and promote a better sense of well being and boost energy levels and immune systems.
As a stand-alone treatment, it is very relaxing. If you have swollen ankles for instance from long periods of standing, or due to warm weather, RLD could be the treatment for you.
Indian Head Massage
Deeply relaxing massage of your scalp and upper back, performed over clothing whilst you sit in a comfortable chair.
Hot Stone Therapies: Massage & Reflexology
These treatments are carried out using heated volcanic stones; the heat permeates deep into your body to give a real feeling of relaxation and is good for easing muscular aches and pains.
Thai Herbal Compress Massage
This is a truly luxurious treatment. Massage is carried out using heated aromatic herb and spice filled compresses. Especially warming and wonderful in cold weather!
Warm Bamboo Massage
Heated Bamboo sticks of varying lengths and thickness are used for massage. The warmth from the Bamboo penetrates deeper into muscle tissue and can be deeply relaxing, promoting a decrease in stress levels. Warm Bamboo massage may also aid the suppleness of skin, reduce aches and pains but could also improve energy levels and general well being. A lovely treatment to have any time, but especially during the colder months of the year!
Thai Foot Massage
During this treatment your legs are gently massaged and stretched to help maintain flexibility and mobility. Reflexology points on the feet are also massaged to help with elimination of toxins.
Bellabaci Cupping Massage (Chinese Cupping)
The silicone Bellabaci cups act as a vacuum and suction to draw out toxins and inflammation from the body and bring them to the surface of the skin where they are eliminated through the Lymphatic system. Using massage techniques and specific placement of the cups, Cupping helps to relieve congestion (knots, tightness) within the muscles as they lift the soft tissue rather than by compression. Cupping may help with pain relief and aid mobility; increase circulation and help reduce cellulite as well as clear Meridian channels of stagnant energy.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is sometimes known as ‘Tapping’, as it involves the tapping with fingers on the body’s meridian points to help release energy blocks within the system. EFT has been successful with many issues, whether, physical or mental, spiritual or emotional. EFT could help if you suffer from a phobia, post traumatic stress disorder, lack of confidence, low self esteem, have weight issues, food cravings, exam nerves, need pain relief, or as the ‘inventor’ of EFT Gary Craig, suggests, ‘try it on anything’.
Reiki is a form of energy healing, it helps to balance the chakras and unblock negative energy. It helps the mind, body and spirit and helps you to de-stress and relax. Reiki is performed over clothing and it involves the gentle laying on of my hands and working with the positive Reiki energy.
Thermal Auricular Therapy
Also known as Ear Candling, these specialised candles can help with unblocking ears, improve the clarity of your hearing and help to clear your sinuses and relieve pressure.
Natural Lift Facial Massage
Natural Lift Facial Massage incorporates a blend of very effective techniques drawn from both Japanese Face Massage (Anma) and Indian Face Massage (Ayurveda), along with Facial Reflexology and Acupressure. Natural Lift Facial Massage involves a sequence of massage techniques which act as a natural facelift. Many people suffer with tension in the facial muscles and this can cause puffiness, lines and wrinkles. This specifically designed massage has become very popular and is used to improve the complexion, remove toxins, increase blood circulation, strengthen and tone facial muscles, helping to prevent sagging skin and fine lines, as well as being deeply relaxing!
Facial Massage and Skincare
Receiving a professional facial can help to improve the condition of your skin as it is cleansed, toned and moisturised. As well as helping the elasticity and toning of your facial muscles, a facial massage will also help to make the experience a truly relaxing one. I use Kaeso products which are Vegan and cruelty free.
If you are interested in being trained and attuned to Reiki energy I undertake training either on a one to one basis or with small groups.
Infant Massage Instructor
If you are the parent or carer of a baby, infant massage can be beneficial for both you and your baby. Infant massage has been shown to help with child development, nurturing and bonding, help boost immunity and can be a hugely enjoyable activity for all the family. I am able to carry out lessons either on a one to one basis, or with small groups.
If you are looking for that inner peace and calm and you have never tried meditating before, it is easier than you think. Meditation is known to lower the blood pressure, reduce stress and help with sleep. It helps to clear the mind, is good for your body and spirit and can aid concentration and help you to focus, as well as being deeply relaxing. I can take you through guided meditations in a calming environment and teach you how you can do it for yourself.
