Performance Success

Once the structural, chemical and emotional systems of the body are balanced and functional, pain is no longer an issue and future injury and pain are less likely.

This balanced state provides a platform for improved performance both physically and, by extension, in all other areas of our lives, and if balance is maintained, performance continues to improve towards our optimal potential for Performance Success.

Having said this, imbalances causing pain or sub-optimal performance do not develop without reason, and so the responsibility falls upon the individual to ensure that they are applying the Six Foundational Principles of Breathing, Eating, Drinking, Sleeping, Moving and Thinking correctly for optimal health.

As a Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiologist and Holistic Lifestyle Coach trained through the prestigious CHEK Institute in California, Peter Strange is able to provide Corrective and High-Performance exercise coaching to allow the client to realise their full potential for functional movement, and Holistic Lifestyle advice to ensure that the remaining five Foundational Principles are being applied in the most effective way possible so that the individual is able to get far more out of their body than ever before.

Corrective Exercise

Because every body is completely unique, a full understanding of each individual's medical history and current functional strengths and weaknesses is required before designing any programme of exercise. Questionnaires are sent out prior to meeting to optimise efficiency and a comprehensive assessment of breathing, posture, spinal mechanics, joint range of motion, muscle balance and core function is completed to assist in detecting discrepancies that often fly under the radar of conventional medical evaluation, but could result in pain and injury if left untreated.

As a result of this assessment a bespoke Corrective stretching and strengthening programme is developed to balance the relative levels of muscular tension throughout the body, realigning its structure and improving both posture and function. Programmes are customised to suit each client's existing skill level and functional ability and take into account constraints in terms of time or equipment available.

The client's overall physiological load in terms of physical, mental, emotional and environmental stress is also taken into consideration and, where appropriate, energy-building exercises, derived from ancient disciplines such as Qi Gong and Yoga, are also utilised to restore balanced vitality.

Reassessments are completed on a regular basis to establish the client's progress towards optimal function and Performance Success and also to help in designing the next programme in a continuing process of re-educating the body and mind.

High-Performance Conditioning

Once a certain level of function is attained, training can be geared towards High-Performance in any sport or physical activity or simply in everyday life.

Peter has worked particularly with footballers, golfers, tennis players, track and field athletes, cyclists, skiers and dancers of all levels, although the methods he uses can be applied across all sports by comparing the information gained from the functional assessment to the optimal requirements for that sport or activity so that Performance Success becomes an inevitable consequence of optimal function and health.

Personal Training

Whilst Peter is keen to encourage his clients to take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing, he also recognises that ongoing support is sometimes necessary for the fine-tuning of technique and maintenance of high motivation levels that is required to ensure maximum results over minimum time.

With the array of skills now at his disposal Peter is far more than just another Personal Trainer and, where deviations from proper technique are observed or pain is present during any given movement, he is able to intuitively sense what treatment intervention or verbal cue is needed to instantly correct the problem, thereby reinforcing the body-mind connection on both a conscious and sub-conscious level.

The transition from treatment table to gym is relatively seamless and because a client's functional ability and technique are constantly monitored and programmes are designed to target weaknesses rather than strengths a "less is more" approach can be adopted where the client leaves the gym feeling more balanced, connected and full of energy than when they arrived.

Holistic Lifestyle Coaching

Holistic Lifestyle Coaching is an approach that is used to guide clients towards optimal lifestyle choices especially with regards to the Six Foundational Principles of Breathing, Eating, Drinking, Sleeping, Moving and Thinking correctly to realise one's true potential for health.

Most people just accept the status quo when it comes to their health and don't realise just how good they could actually feel with just a few minor lifestyle modifications. Pain, injury, disease and any of the other harmful effects of our stressful lives can all be prevented through healthy eating, proper hydration, adequate good quality sleep, appropriate exercise and self-affirmative positive thinking.

Through various treatment and training modalities Peter is able to directly address any imbalances of a structural or emotional nature and indirectly influence chemical imbalances. However, the most profound way that we can affect our body chemistry is through our nutrition and since we are made up of about 100 trillion cells which are constantly being turned over at varying rates, what we put into our bodies supplies the raw materials for this process to occur and so, quite literally, we are what we eat!

Furthermore, because each individual is biochemically unique, nutritional advice should never be supplied using a "one size fits all" approach and so, as an Advanced Metabolic Typing Advisor, Peter is able to customise each client's nutrition to match the metabolic needs of that individual, thereby addressing chemical imbalances and ensuring optimal health.

About - Peter Strange

Peter Strange has built his reputation as a Pain Elimination and Performance Enhancement specialist through helping his clients to quickly resolve both chronic and acute pain issues and improve their level of performance both in sport and life in general.

His uniquely intuitive and holistic approach to treatment has often enabled him to provide solutions where other methods have consistently failed and even where surgery has been recommended as the only remaining option.

Clients range from elite athletes with very specific performance objectives to those from all other walks of life who simply want to feel and perform better.

Peter has the tools to ensure that you achieve the success you truly deserve, whether your aim is to:
  • recover from injury
  • become pain free
  • improve sports performance
  • remove physical, mental or emotional blockages that prevent you from performing at your very best
  • Peter's career in Health and Fitness began in 1995 after he realised that he would not be able to
  • pursue his dream of a career in sport due to serious back and knee injuries sustained in his teenage years.

Despite his initial disappointment, he was able to channel his frustration into an overwhelming desire to help others overcome pain and injury and realise their true performance potential through optimal health.

As his reputation has grown he has been presented with ever more complex challenges and has always sought to expand his knowledge further.

His extensive studies and clinical experience have enabled him to develop his own unique methods of treatment, which encompass elements from:
  • Applied Kinesiology
  • Neuromuscular Therapy
  • Energy Healing
  • Emotional Freedom Technique
  • Functional Medicine
Alongside treatment, clients are empowered to make necessary changes in their own lives through:
  • Corrective Exercise Coaching
  • Holistic Lifestyle Coaching
This powerful combination of treatment and the client's own active participation ensure that the perfect balance of optimal health is both achieved and maintained.

Pain Solutions

Optimal Health implies that the structural, chemical and emotional systems of the body and mind are balanced and functional.

Pain is an indication of imbalance or dysfunction in one or more of these systems and a reminder that a redirection of energy is required.

Contained within us is the innate ability for self-healing although often we are unable to easily access our body's own subconscious wisdom and therapeutic intervention or guidance is needed.

Many traditional therapies are effective at alleviating symptoms and managing pain but true healing can only occur when we address the root cause of the pain or dysfunction with the objective of eliminating it completely and preventing its re-occurrence.

Through the experience of listening to his own body, as well as an intuitive understanding of how it's various systems interact to create pain and dysfunction, Peter is able to draw on a wide range of therapeutic modalities to ensure that each of his clients receives treatment that is tailored to their own individual requirements and pain is resolved quickly or prevented from occurring in the first place.

Applied Kinesiology

Testing individual muscles for weakness helps to detect structural and emotional imbalances, which can usually be corrected immediately, and chemical imbalances, which can be treated via the structural and emotional systems and then permanently corrected through supplementation or dietary modifications. Food sensitivities can also be tested using this method. Retesting of previously weak muscles after treatment serves to reinforce the positive changes made, thus supplying a psychological and immune system boost and enhancing the client's conscious and subconscious awareness of the interconnected workings of their body and mind. This increases the probability of the body being able to heal itself, should the same imbalances occur in the future.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Where there are weaknesses in the muscular system the opposing muscles will generally become tight or over-facilitated. This alters the length-tension relationships of muscles across joints therefore affecting the body's overall posture, which in turn will influence the position of the internal organs and their function, the flow of blood and lymphatic fluid, the balance of the hormonal system and the emotional state of the individual. The St. John Method of Neuromuscular Therapy is based on research that identifies the fundamental causes of pain and whilst Applied Kinesiology identifies and strengthens weak muscles, Neuromuscular Therapy techniques can be used to locate and eliminate spasms and trigger points within the opposing tight muscles thereby restoring optimal alignment and function.

Energy Healing

Whilst both Applied Kinesiology and Neuromuscular Therapy techniques are incredibly effective for identifying the root causes of pain and often eliminating it completely there are times when a more subtle approach is required to encourage the body to respond. Using gentle techniques derived from KORE Therapy (including Qi Gong Healing and Craniosacral Balancing) and Integrative Manual Therapy (including Myofascial Mapping and Release), as well as his own intuitive methods, Peter is able to use his unique sensitivity to interpret where dysfunction is present and then harness the body's own natural healing energy for treatment.

Emotional Freedom Technique

The energetic charge associated with unresolved mental and emotional issues is invariably stored in the tissues of the body, particularly in areas where it is already most weak, and this can often manifest itself as pain, dysfunction or disease. Whilst most clients respond well to Applied Kinesiology techniques for eliminating these blockages, in situations where there is no specific physical connection that can be detected through manual muscle testing, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is another incredibly effective tool for releasing the emotional attachment to traumatic events, limiting beliefs, addictive tendencies and fear or phobias. This is achieved through the stimulation of specific acupuncture points alongside the use of powerful verbal affirmations and offers a relatively painless and dramatically quicker alternative to conventional psychotherapy methods.

Functional Medicine

Once structural and emotional imbalances have been addressed and the client has received Holistic Lifestyle Coaching and is applying the Six Foundational Principles of Breathing, Eating, Drinking, Sleeping, Moving and Thinking correctly for optimal health, any remaining health challenges can be investigated further through advanced Functional Diagnostic Laboratory Testing. By analysing the results of tests on stool, urine, blood, saliva or hair samples, customised healing protocols can be created that address digestive disorders caused by reactions to particular foods, parasite infections, yeast and fungal overgrowth, dysbiosis and any other factors that may be causing a chemical imbalance or an inflammatory or immune system response. Hormonal imbalances and detoxification issues can also be detected and addressed using similar protocols.
