About Counselling

Counselling is a confidential interaction...

...in which the counsellor enables the client to express feelings, explore issues and anxieties and gain insight. It can help clarify thoughts and feelings, enable decisions to be made and provide empowerment to carry out courses of action.

Everyone has times in their lives when they can become overwhelmed by events especially at times of change or loss.

Clients are often surprised at the ease they feel talking to an objective counsellor and how quickly they regain control of situations.

My integrative approach places emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship of trust and understanding and draws upon a range of counselling models in response to the client. My empathic and flexible way of working includes integrating psychodynamic principles, person-centred conditions, Gestalt experiments and cognitive behavioural interventions as appropriate.

Sessions last for approximately 50 minutes and usually weekly meetings work best for continuity.

I am an Accredited Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), follow its Ethical Framework for Good Practice and am subject to its Complaints Procedure. This can be accessed on www.bacp.co.uk
