About Us
I am a qualified Reiki Practitioner member of the UK Reiki Federation and am currently at college studying ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies. I recently qualified in holistic massage and anatomy and physiology and hope to qualify in Reflexology in June of 2012. I hope later this year to qualify in Indian Head Massage. All of these therapies are excellent tools for stress reduction and relaxation.

Having experienced first hand, many of todays most stressful life experiences, (eg depression, autism, divorce, single parenthood, bereavement, living in another country), I am now at a point where I would like to share with others, what I have found helpful in coping with life's challenges.

Usui Reiki is not a cure, but it is a great enabler. It has helped me find my Calm, Peace and Serenity in life regardless of what is happening around me.Through learning Reiki my interest was sparked in other complementary therapies and I absolutely love what I am doing now and want to share this passion with as many people as I can.

Challenges still present themselves on an almost daily basis but my reactions to them are now very different. I am a work in progress, perfection not being a realistic goal for anyone!
I use Reiki for self-healing to keep my energy balanced and also practice Chi Kung (a form of Tai Chi) as well as receiving regular treatments from other therapists.

Reiki

Pronounced Ray-key, it is a simple energy balancing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation, discovered in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 1900s.

Reiki is not a religion, but it is a very personal experience. It is a safe, complementary therapy which can work alongside other alternative, or traditional medical treatments in helping to bring a deep sense of calm, peace and serenity to our stressful lifestyles of today.

What happens during a treatment ?

A Reiki treatment is very simple, you remain fully clothed throughout, except for your shoes. You either lie on a treatment couch or seated in an upright chair whilst the practitioner holds their hands very lightly or sometimes hovering just above certain points on the head, body, legs and feet for a few minutes each.
Soft, relaxing music helps create a relaxed atmosphere.

During the treatment you may feel heat/cold from the practitioner's hands, or you may feel nothing but very relaxed! Everyone has a slightly different experience but your body will draw what it needs for balance through the practitioner. You may even fall asleep!

After a Reiki treatment you may feel relaxed and want to rest, or you may feel energised, it affects people differently but its important to listen to your body, drink water and rest when you need to.

Reiki is not a cure, rather it is an enabler. It can help you to become more relaxed and calm which will help your body heal itself and help you to cope better.

Whilst a single treatment will always help it is usual to have a short course of treatments usually weekly for say 3-4 weeks (sometimes less) then fortnightly thereafter.

Distance Reiki

Reiki can be given over a distance by prior arrangement.
A suitable time is agreed when the client will be resting and not doing anything hazardous eg driving a vehicle. Whilst not as potent as a full session this is an effective way to "top-up" in between regular Reiki sessions.

Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have any symptoms of illness you should consult your own doctor.

A Reiki Practitioner will not interfere with any form of medical treatment or give any diagnosis or prescribe any medication.

Animal Reiki

I offer Reiki regularly to our own pets for their well-being and relaxation, it is done gently and with constant attention paid to the animal's comfort.
The animal's owner must give written consent to Reiki treatment and unless the animal is receiving Reiki for the purpose of relaxation and well-being, they must confirm to the Practitioner that their animal has already been seen by a veterinary surgeon for examination, diagnosis and treatment for any presenting condition.

I reserve the right to refuse or postpone treatment of any animal.
