Brightside Therapies
My name’s Steve and I’m a fully qualified ITEC holistic massage therapist working from my own therapy room in Blackthorn, near Bicester. My aim is to enhance the health and wellbeing of my clients by delivering first-class massage treatments in a safe and professional environment.

Massage is a great way to ease tense muscles, relieve stress and soothe aches and pains. It can also improve circulation, detoxify the system and help digestion. However, for most clients, it is more about closing the door on the demands of the day for a while and having some “me” time. After an hour or so of pampering, they leave relaxed, reinvigorated and feeling fantastic.

For your peace of mind, I’m fully insured by Holistic Insurance Services, have a first aid qualification from ITC First Aid and am a member of the Complementary Therapists Association.

Below you'll find a list of the types of massage available at Brightside Therapies. Take a look and then give me a call to book your appointment.

Swedish body massage
People have used massage for thousands of years for healing the mind, body and spirit. Modern day massage is based on the work of Per Henrik Ling, a Swedish physical therapist who first documented the five basic strokes used in Swedish massage.

Swedish massage treatments take place on a couch and use oils to let my hands glide easily over the body. Typically, a full body massage will start with the face and head, move on to the abdomen, arms and legs and finish with the back, but each treatment is tailored to what you want to get out of the massage.

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage
The traditional massage of the ancient Polynesians
This unique massage style has been passed down through the years by the Hawaiian Kahuna Lomi, or massage masters. Once you try it you will not want any other type of massage!

Lomi lomi uses long, sweeping, rhythmic strokes over and under the body to recreate the ebb and flow of the ocean. Almost straight away you think there are more than two hands massaging you. Then your brain just stops trying to work it out and you end up with the most profound feeling of relaxation and wellbeing.

Call me now to book this unique massage experience.

Indian head massage
When was the last time someone touched your head? Having your head massaged not only feels great, it also energises the whole body, stimulates the "little grey cells" and helps with tension headaches and migraines.

While its roots are based in the Ayurvedic system of medicine of India, modern Indian head massage was developed by physical therapist Narendra Mehta in 1970s. The treatment includes massage of the upper back and shoulders as well as the head and face and balancing of the top three chakras or energy centres.

A treatment can take as little as 15 minutes or as long as an 1 hour, so contact me today to book your perfect head massage.

Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage is a more intense, prolonged treatment designed specifically to alleviate chronic muscle tension. It is ideal for athletes, those with physically demanding jobs and people who have experienced injuries such as whiplash or RSI.

When muscles are used extensively, they become stressed. Oxygen and nutrients can’t circulate effectively so toxins begin to build up in the tissue, causing the muscles to tense and ache. Using slow strokes and deep pressure on the affected areas, we encourage the muscles to loosen up, releasing the toxins, increasing blood flow and allowing oxygen to circulate.

This is not just a deeper pressure massage. During deep tissue massage, I use different strokes to get through to the lower levels of muscles. This may make you feel sore for some hours afterwards, but when it passes it will be replaced by a looser, more relaxed feeling.

A full body massage can combine deep tissue work to address specific problems as well as more relaxing strokes to make you feel good. We'll discuss your requirements and agree a treatment plan when you arrive, so contact me today to book your appointment.

Natural Lift Face Massage
a face lift without surgery or chemicals
You know how wonderful it is to have a face massage. How great would it be if it made you look younger too? My Natural Lift Face Massage can do just that in 60 minutes!

Natural Lift Face Massage is a blend of Japanese, Ayurvedic, acupressure and energy techniques applied to the face, neck and shoulders. This totally safe, natural and non-invasive treatment will release facial tension, remove toxins and tone up the skin, leaving you feeling relaxed and looking younger.

So for a natural lift, give me a call now!

Lava Shell Massage
The heat of the tropics in the palm of your hand
Lava Shell Relax is Brightside Therapies’ ultimate pampering treatment, a deeply relaxing massage that uses heat to melt away your aches and pains. Better still, it is eco-friendly, combining discarded tiger striped clam shells with a sachet of natural ingredients to create the world’s first self-heating massage tool.

I can use between one and four shells in a treatment. Using light Swedish massage strokes the large smooth side of the shell delivers a deep and soothing effect. The hinge at the back gets deep into knotted muscles, while the narrow edge can work around tense shoulders or drain larger muscle groups. The overall effect is to ease away any stressed or tense muscles leaving you feeling as if you’re floating in a tropical ocean.

So call today to book your tropical experience!

Pegnancy/Prenatal Massage
When you’re pregnant, a soothing massage is one of the best treats you can give yourself
Many changes happen to your body during pregnancy, apart from the obvious increase in size and weight as the baby grows. There will be an increased tendency for swelling around the feet and hands; you become tired more easily; you experience a variety of aches and pains; and you may suffer from anxiety, depression or stress. Therapeutic massage has been used for centuries to improve overall health, reduce stress and relieve muscle tension. Clearly pregnancy is the perfect time for a soothing massage.

Modern research indicates that massage is safe for expectant mothers as long as it takes their condition into careful consideration. Pregnancy, or prenatal, massage is a type of therapy specifically adapted for mothers-to-be to ensure their safety and comfort as well as that of their baby. As a qualified pregnancy massage therapist, I have been trained in these techniques to ensure that you receive the best possible treatment.

Contact me now to book your appointment to feeling better than you've felt since you learned you were pregnant!

Workplace Chair Massage
If you care about the wellbeing of your staff then why not give them a shot of relaxation in the middle of the day.

Acupressure chair massage is an ideal treatment for the workplace as it is done through the clothes and doesn't use oils. All it needs is enough space for me to set up my chair. Your employees go back to their desk feeling energised and motiviated.

Treatments can be from 15 to 30 minutes and can be paid for by the employer or by each employee. For a demonstration at your offices, call me now.
