About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body, particularly those of the spine.

Treatment consists of a wide range of manipulative techniques designed to improve the function of the joints, relieving pain and muscle spasm.

Chiropractic does not involve the use of any drugs or surgery.

The British Chiropractic Association (BCA), founded in 1925, represents over 50% of UK chiropractors. All BCA chiropractors will have undergone a minimum four-year full-time internationally-accredited degree course and are registered with the General Chiropractic Council, the UK's statutory regulator for the profession. The BCA aim to promote, encourage and maintain high standards of conduct, practice, education and training within the profession in the UK.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is concerned with helping to restore well-being to people following injury, pain or disability.

Using knowledge from an extensive scientific background of human anatomy and physiology, physiotherapists can help to assess, diagnose and treat conditions and illnesses that affect people in all ages and social groups, as well as assisting a patient to prevent injury in the workplace or on the sports field.

Physiotherapists use mainly physical means such as exercise, mobilisation, massage and electrical modalities to help patients to achieve their full potential. While traditionally, physiotherapy was regarded as rehabilitative and mainly hospital based, the profession has expanded greatly into other health care areas. We have invaluable expertise to offer in educational and preventative roles in the community, the workplace and in private practice.

All physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). The CSP provides strict codes of conduct and practice for their members.
