SERVICES

Welcome to Bodyworks Massage & Sports Therapy

If you have recently had an injury either at home, work or during normal activity, then the chances are you are more than likely feeling, isolated, frustrated, and generally fed up.

I know how annoying it can be going down the NHS route, your GP just wants to give you tablets to help with the pain, however this does not address the underlying problem.

You end up waiting weeks to see a Physiotherapist, and when you do they just give you exercises to do, or apply some form of electrotherapy treatment in the 10-15 minutes of allocated time he/she has with you.

I tore a ligament in my right ankle a few years ago whilst playing football and it was through the lack of patient care, improper approach, and generally being treated poorly, which led me to search for another form of healthcare which would help speed up the recovery from injury

Having never had any form of Massage before, and being a typical guy I was a little sceptical to say the least. However I came across a Sports Therapist who put me at ease immediately and explained what was going on with my ankle. They applied some soft tissue manipulation work on the ligaments & surrounding muscles of my ankle, combined with some light balance and strengthening exercises. The improvement was almost instant and I was back playing in no time at all.

After a few sessions I realised that was what I wanted to do, and immediately began my learning journey to become a Sports Therapist.

About Me

My name is Christopher Sykes, I am a Level 5 Advanced Sports Therapist.

I have been a practising Massage Therapist for over 3 years. In this time I have worked both within a sporting and community sector.

I currently offer a service on a mobile basis, which allows my clients the piece of mind to arrange a treatment in the workplace, at home, or at a location to suit there requitements.

Having spent almost 5 years in the Armed Forces, it was quite strange that my path would follow such an holistic route.

During my learning journey, I studied at North Notts College for almost 18 months, to learn the fundamentals of Swedish Body Massage and Anatomy & Physiology.

In which I received both VTCT certification and diploma qualifications.

It was then I decided to progress to the next level, and enrolled with Active Health Group in Manchester, on one of their highly acclaimed Advanced Level 5 Sports Therapist Diploma courses.

Having studied, and travelled to Manchester for over 12 months, in June 2009 I was rewarded with my Diploma of Sports Therapist.

My one regret is that I had not decided years ago to move into this sector of healthcare, because the results and job satisfaction are so rewarding.

Knowing you have played a huge part in enriching someone's everyday life.
